Description

l. C. HOWLETT.
TIRE OVEN.
APPLICATION F ILED FEB- 7, I919- Patented June 29, 1920.

. manna,
To all whom z'tmay concern: I Be it known that I, ISAAC C. HowLnrr, a citizen of the United States of America,
. residing at Bangs, in the county of Brown and State'of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tire-Ovens, of which the following is a specification.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a device for heating wagon and buggy wheel tires so that the same may be evenly heated throughout. To this end the invention comprises an annular outer casin and an annular inner casing, the walls 0 the two being in spaced relation to each other with a series of burners arranged around the outer wall of the inner casing and the. inner wall of the outer casing, the burners of the one projecting their flame toward the burners of the other. Beneath the burners there are provided a plurality of supports on which the tire or tires may be carried and this con-. struction provides for the heating of the tire upon the inside as well as upon the out, so that the distribution of the heat will be uniform throughout. The device is designed to be closed at the top between the inner and outer casing, so when it is in use the heat generated thereby may be confined to that part wherein the tires are carried.
The invention is illustrated and described in a specific embodiment, to which, however,
it is not to be restricted. The ri ht is re served to make such changes or'a terations gest, in so far as such changes or alterations are compatible in spirit with the annexed claim.
The same numerals of reference desi ate the same parts throughout the severa figures of the drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation .of the improved device.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4, of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown an outer annular casing 1 and an inner annular casing 2, the walls of which stand in spaced relation to each other. These two casings are secured together by means of i i f, U Specification of Letters Z Patent.
exterior there is an annular pipe or gas or fuel conducting tube 4 which is provided with outwardly disposed radially projecting each other, serve also to support tires which may be placed in the device.
The device is designed to use either gas,
gasolene or other suitable fuel which is admitted to the pipes 4 and 6, the fuel being vaporized or carbureted in any acceptable manner before admission to the pipes, being admitted to the same through a supply pipe 8 in which there is included a control valve 9, suitable tubular or pipe connections 10 and 11 leading from the valve to the pipes 4 and 6 respectively. 1
Hingedly attached at diametrically opposite sides of thecasing 1, there are the cover members 12, the two being of such shape that they close the device at the top of the space wherein the burners .are contained, but leave open the space through the inner casing.
It is obvious that when the burners are lighted, a tire may be placed in on the supports or braces 3 when the flames from the burners will be projected against the inner and outer peripheries of the tire, thus making the distribution of heat uniform throughout so that the tire will be expanded uniformly.
From the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings, it is believed that a clear enough understanding of the invention is to be had to render further description unnecessary.
The invention having been described what is claimed as new and useful is:
An oven for the purpose indicated comprising an inner annular casing, and an outer annular casing, combined braces and supports radially disposed and connecting the two casings together whereby the two are held in spaced relation to each other, an annular fuel conductin pipe disposed against the inner wall 0 the outer casing and just above the combined braces and sup- I V Patented June 29,1920.
