improvements in gate construction and it is the primary object of the invention to provide a novel bracing means for bracmg the gate against lateral and longitudinal strain ordinarily directed thereto during the operation of the gate.
A further object of the invention 15 to provide means for tightening the truss rods of the gate structure to remove any sagging thereof which may be present, due to constant use of the gate.
A further object of the invention 15 to provide a novel form of locking means to be employed in connection W'lth the gate, for securing the gate in its closed position.
lVith the foregoing and other objects 1n view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter dethat changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what claimed, without departing from the sp1r1t of the lnvention.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the gate construction includes a frame 5 formed of a continuous bar to provide opposed side sections 6, and end sections 7 the ends of the bar being secured together in any suit able manner. 7
This frame 5 supports the longitudinal wires 9, spaced throughout the width of the frame, and having their respective ends looped around the end sections 7 to firmly secure the wires thereto, the transversely extending wires 10 having connection with the side sectlons 6, by looping the respective ends thereof around the side sections, the
intermediate portions of thewires 10 being looped around the respective longitudinal wires 9 so that the longitudinal wires 9 are secured in spaced relation with each 7 other and held against displacement on the frame. .v
The central bracing element is disposed intermediate the length of the frame, and
includes the collars 12 which embrace the side sections 6, as at 13, each of the collars being however provided with depending ears let, which are apertured as at 15, the side edges thereof being turned up as at 16 to provide a seat for the ends of the side members 17 also forming a part of the' A central bracing element, the ends of the side members 17 being apertured to accommodate a bolt or similar securing member 18, whereby the side members are secured to the side sections 6. of the frame 5.
Each of the side members 17' is apertured intermediate its length, as at '19, which aperture is provided for the ,purpose of receiving the ends of the spacing bolt 20, the same being disposed within thetube 21, which has its ends contacting with the plates 22, the bolt 20 passing through suitable opening 23 in the central portion of the respective plates 22, for securing the plates to the side members 17, there being nuts 24 positioned on the respective ends of the bolt 20 for securing the plates, side members 17 and tube 21 to the gate structure.
From the foregoing it is obvious that the central bracing elements direct great ten sion to the side members of the frameand holds the same, especially the central portion thereof against sagging.
Disposed at each corner of the frame 5, are the clamping members 25, each of which comprises a pair of arms 26, which are curved as at 27 to embrace the frame of the gate, one section of each of the clamping members 25, extending beyond the end of the gate to which the same is secured, to provide bearings 28, the bearings 28 at the forward end of the gate supporting the vertical rod 29, which is provided with a central latch element 30, and a coiled spring upper bearing member 28, so that when the latch element 30 contacts with the latch member 31, the same will ride over the inclined surface 32 thereof, whereupon the coiled spring will cause the latch to seat behind the shoulder 33, whereby the gate is secured in its closed position. The bearings 28 at the opposite end of the gate being however for the purpose of providing a means for connecting one of the sections of the hinge thereto.
Associated with each of the clamping members 25 is an anchor 34:, which includes .arelatively straight portion 35 and opposed arms 36, which arms are secured to the clamping members by means of the bolts 37, the relatively straight portion 35 of each anchor being provided with spaced openings 38 for the reception of the eye bolts 39. These eye bolts 39 have connection with the angularly disposed truss'wires 410, which have one of their respective ends disposed within the eye of the bolt, the opposite end of each of the truss wires 40 passing through one of the openings 41 of one of the plates 22, the truss wires 40 being disposed on opposite sides of the frame of the gate to brace. the gate against lateral strain ordinarily directed thereto when'the same contacts with the gate post, during the closing of the gate.
Associated witheach of the eye bolts '39, is a nut 42, operating on the threaded extremity thereof, and it will be seen that by manipulating the nuts 42, that the tension of the'truss wires 40 may be increased or diminished. It is therefore obvious that if the gate should sag between its supporting post, it is only necessary to rotate the nuts 42 to cause the tightening of the truss wires 40 to the end that the elements of the frame are again. moved into proper relation with each other. 7
It is of'course understood that the tube 21, and bolt 20, are of lengths to cause the side members 17 to lie in a plane spaced from the wires connecting the side and end members of the frame,'to the end that an angular pull of the truss' wires 40 takes place upon manipulation of the nuts 42.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is 1 1. A gate construction including a frame, longitudinally extending wires secured to the frame, transversely extending wires crossing the longitudinally extending wires, a bracket secured adjacent each corner of the frame, an anchor supported by each bracket, a central bracing element, plates supported by the central bracing element, truss wires having connection with the plates, eye bolts having connection with the anchors and truss wires, and means on one end of the truss wires for increasing the tension thereof. 7'

A gate construction including a frame, a bracket having connection with the frame at the respective corners thereof, a bracing element including side members, means for supporting the side members in. spaced relation with each other, said side members being disposed in spaced relation with the gate, plates forming a part of the central bracing element, truss wires having connection with the plates, and means for connect- .ing the plates to the brackets for increasing or diminishing the tension of the truss wires.
3. A- gate construction including a frame, wires having connection with the frame of the gate, collars supported by the frame, each of the collarsv having a depending ear said ears providing seats, a central bracing element. including side members having their ends positioned in the seats, a tubular member for supporting the side members of the central bracing element in spaced relation with each other, a bolt extending through the tubular member, means on the end of the bolt for securing the side members of the central bracing element together, truss wires having connection with the central bracing element, and means for adjustably connecting the wires to the frame of.
