TUB.
To all whom it may coat-em Be it known that I, TILLIE HARRINGTON, a citizen of the United States residing at Minnea olis, in the county of I-lennepm and State-oi Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tubs, of which the followin is a specification.
This invention relates to, and comprehends the struction esigned for use in connect on with a stand or support; and with a view of increasing the capacity of the tub to afford maximum space for the wash board and washing of a single iece of clothes in the uppen part of the tu without any interference of the clothes contained in the lower partof the tub.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is taken in connection with the accompanying draw ng, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming art of this specification, like numerals 0? reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the tub and stand associated for use.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken therethrough.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the stand.
The invention essentially consists of a stand or support including an annulus 10 from the outer periphery of which arises the rim 11, while depending from the annulus 10 is a plurality of supporting legs 12. The stand as a unit can be constructed from any suitable material and vary in size to accommodate different size tubs.
The tub used in connection with the stand above described, may also be constructed from any suitable material, and is provided with means whereby the tub may be supported from the annulus 10 with a portion of the tub depending an appreciable distance below the annulus. While any suitable means may be employed for this purpose, I have shown in this specific instance the tub designed for association -with the stand in the manner shown. In. this specific embodiment of the invention, the tub 14 is formed at an appropriate point in its height with an inwardly directed flange 15, which divides the tub into a relatively large Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed Kay 27, 1919. Serial Io. 800,028.
rovision of a' tub of novel con-' Patented June 8, 1920.
Any suitable means may be employed for sup orting the wash board upon the flange 15, ut as shown in this specific instance a pair of spaced channel shaped members 20 project horizontally from the flange 15, and
are adapted to receive the lower ends of the legs of the wash board in the manner which -considerable resistance when an e ort .is
made to lift a certain article or piece of clothes from the tub upon the wash board. These objections are overcome by the construction and arrangement of parts herein disclosed. If desired, the lower portion 17 of the tub may be provided with a spigot 21 by means of which the water may be convenientl drained from the tub, thus eliminating t e necessity of liftin the heavy tub filled with water to empty the tub which is a common practice with tubs of the usual construction. The tub is provided with a cover 22 and when the tub is not inuse, a table cloth may be spread over the cover to permit the structure in its entirety to be used as a table.
While I have shown and described what I consider the preferred embodiment of the invention, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself in this connection, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
What I claim is In combination, an annulus of substantially L-shaped formation in cross section, legs supporting the annulus, a wash tub madeof separable sections, the upper section being of uniform diameter and restlng upon said annulus, said upper section having an opening in the bottom thereof, the
lower section being smaller than the upper section and suspended from the bottom of the latter through the opening therein, said lower section having a flange resting u on the bottom of the upper section and isposed in the space between the legs of the annulus, and the cover for the upper section.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. 20
TILLIE HARRINGTON.
