a citizen of'the United v tates, residing at Belgrade, in the county of Nance and State of Nebraska; have invented certain'new and useful Improvements in an 7 Automatic Dump-Lock, of which the following is a specificatiom v This invention re ates to an improved dump lock for use in connection with a dumping platform upon which vehicles will be unloaded and the principal object of the invention is to so construct this look that it may be used. in connection with a conventional construction of dump and the dumping or tilting platform securely held against being accidentally released and moving to a dumping position. Another object of the invention is to so construct this lock that it may be associated with the trap door covering the hopper of a bin, opening of the trap door moving the lock to an inoperative position and closing of the trap door moving the lock to an operative position. Another object of the invention is to so construct this lock that it will be simple in construction and strong and durable and comprise a comparatively small number of parts. This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein- Figure 1 is a top plan view of a dumping platform of a conventional construction having the lock associated therewith,

This dumping platform is of a conventional construction and will be mounted in the flooring 10 of a mill and will consist of the usual tilting beams 11 pivotally mounted upon the axle 12 for swin 'ng movement from the position shown in ig. 2 to that shown in Fig. 3.
In order to support the beams 11 in a horizontal position there has been provided a socket openings 15 formed in the standards constituting keepers 16, the socket openings 15 being sufiiciently large to permit free rotary movement of the rocker bar 14. This rocker bar 14 carries supporting arms serving as latches 17 which extend upwardly, and from an inspection of Figs. 2 and 3 it will be seen that when this rocker bar is moved through the medium of the lever arm 18 and handle 19 the standards or keepers may be moved into and out of engagement with the beams, it will thus be seen that after a wagon has been placed upon the platform the supports may be swung to the inoperative position and the grain or other material in the wagon dumped into the bin to one side of the partition 20 and the plat form then returned to the horizontal position and secured after which the vehicle can be removed. The structure as far as described is a conventional form of tilting platform and supports for holding the same in a horizontal position. It has been found that in use the supports for the tilting platform will accidentally move to a releasing position thus releasing the platform and often causing injury to animals as well as people working about the mill and it is to overcome this objection and provide means for securely locking the supports in an operative position that the improved look now to be described has been developed.
The locking structure for the platform supports is mounted beneath the flooring and is provided with a rocker shaft 21 having arms 22 extending from its outer end portions and an intermediate arm 23 with which the draw bar or actuating bar for the locking structure will be connected. The draw bar 2-]: extends through a slot 25 in the flooring 10 and is connected with the trap door through the medium of the bearings 26. It will be readily seen that when the trap door is grasped by the handle 27 and swung upwardly the rocker shaft will be rotated to swing the arms 22 in a direction away from the partition 20 and further that when the door 13' is closed the rocker shaft will be rotated to swing these arms 22 toward the partition. Links 28 are pivotally connected with the arms 22 and extend forwardly toward the partition 20 upon opposite sides of the inlet 29 closed by the trap door and have their forward ends rigidly connected with the locking bars 30 which pass through the partition into position for engagement with the supportin arms 17 when the trap door is closed. t will thus be seen that after the platform has been returned and the trap door trap door will move the locking structure to bring the looking arms into engagement with the supporting arms and thus securely hold the supporting arms against-movement to a releasing position until the trap door has been again opened. This trap door would not be opened until ready for use and therefore there would be no danger of the tilting platform becoming released and swinging to the tilted position accidentally. There has thus been provided a locking structure for the platform support which will be very ellicient in operation and which will more into and out of an operative position as the trap door is closed or opened.
