' Specification of Letters latent.

Application filed March 25, 1919. Serial No. 285,121.
which the following is a full, clear, conclse,
and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
Our invention relates to refrigerator CllS- play vending vehicles and has to do more particularly with a vehicle of this character for handling meats in which an inclosed body is provided having a transparent d splay case located within the body and suitably connected with refrigerating means preferably in the formv of one or more ice chests located alongside the display case. This outfit is suitably built into the body portion and located so as to provide an attendants floor space alongside the show case, this space being connected with a space in front where a drivers seat is provided, the body being preferably placed upon the chassis of an automobile. The display case is preferably arranged along the curb side of the body, that is, the right side, WhlCll is the curb side as it is generally called. A suitable door is provided for closing the display side and which may be opened when the vehicle is drawn up to the curb, so as to expose the case. and contents to view. Thus a very neat and attractive portable conveyance is provided for the display of meats, etc.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings for a more detailed disclosure of our invention, I
Figure 1 is a side elevation of our improved vehicle with the side door open disclosing the display case and a portion of the side wall broken away to show one of the ice chests;
Fig. 2 is a section just above the displayv case showing a floor plan of the vehicle;
Fig. 3 is a transverse section along the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and
Fig. 4 is a section along the line 4-4 of Fig. 1 showing the transparent display case and connected rear ice chest.
' Referring now more in detail to the preand ferrediform ofourinvention as illustrated. it comprises an inclosed body portion place upon a suitable chassis 5 as of an automobile.
The bodyis, preferably made as wide as possible and therefore the floor 6. is, extended so as to project over the wheels, being cut away at the rear Wheels 7 and provided with suitable-mud guards 8. Along the curb side of the body we provide a suitable display case 16 preferably having a glass front and top with sliding rear doors and connected with refrigerating apparatus in the form of a front ice chest 9 and rear ice chest 10 so as to provide acirculation of cold air through the display case. This, of course, keeps the interior of the case cooled so as to preserve the meats and other articles kept therein.
For this purpose we provide a suitable lever 12 connected with the door 15 and acting upon a ratchet 13 so thatthe door may be held in its open position. Thus the attendant may open and close the door from the inside. p
A floor space 14 for the attendant is provided alongside the display case 16 so that ready access may be had to the case and also to the ice chests without having to leave the vehicle. Also, at the front end of the vehicle a space 17 is provided for the driver at which a seat 18 is placed adjacent the steering wheel 19 and-a suitable door is 'These chests have removable covers for replaced along the curb side for entering and Wterior of the machine. When getting ready to display his wares, he simply drives up to the curb or any place where it is desired to stop, and opens the side door 15 by means of the lever 12 so as to expose thedisplay case 16 and contents to view to the prospective customers.
A neat, clean, sanitary and attractive portable shop ,is thus provided, in which perishable goods may be kept in a cooled state ,due to the circulation of cold air through the case from the connected ice chests. Also ready access may be had to the display case and customers easily waited on without the attendant having to leave the machine. The machine is driven up to the curb and opened and the customers can step to the side of the machine and select cuts of nieat just as is done in the ordinary butcher shop.
Although we have shown a preferred design it is to be understood that we contemplate other arrangements than the particular one shown. For instance, the display case may be varied or any number of ice chests provided. Also the side door need not be controlled by any particular kind of lever.
Therefore we do not desire to .be limited tothe exact structure shown and described but aim to cover all that which comes within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
1. In a display vending vehicle, a body comprising a display case along the curb side, an attendants space along the case, and suitablev refrigerating means forthe display case, said means comprising an ice-chest at the'forward end of the display case and an icechest in the attendants space adjacent the rear end of the display case.
-2. In a display vending vehicle, a bod comprising a display case along the our side andhaving a transparent side and a transparent top, an attendants space along the case, said case and space being confined by suitable walls, a movable door extending at one side of and above the case adapted to beppened to expose the side and top of the display case to view along the curb slde, and suitable refrigerating means forthe display case.
3. In a display vending vehicle, a body comprising a display case with transparent side and top along the curb side, an attendants space along the case, said case and space being confined by suitable walls, a
movable door extending at one side of 'and above the case ada .over the rear wheels along one side of thebody over the rear ted to be opened to expose the side an top of the display case to view along the curb side, and suitable refrigerating means for the display case, means controlled by the attendant from inside the body for opening and closing the door. I
' 4. A body for display vending vehicles comprising a walled inclosure adapted to fit the chassis of an automobile and extending thereof, a display case wheel position along the curb side, an attendants space along theother side over the 66 the other wheel posit1on, andfsuitable refrigerating means carried within the body for the display case, said means com rising an ice-chest at the forward end of t e display case and an ice-chest in the attendants space adjacent the rear end of the display case. v v
6. A body for display Vending vehicles comprising a walled inclosure adapted to fit the chassis of an automobile and extending over the rear wheels thereof, a dis lay case with transparent side. and top a ong one side of the body over the rear wheel, position along the curb side, a movable door closing one side of the vehicle and adapted when open to expose the display case and provide an opening above the case to the at:
comprising a suitably walled body adapted to fit a running gear of a vehicle, an attendants space within said body, a transparent display case within the body alpng the curb-side, a movable door closing one side of the vehicle and adapted when open to expose the display case and provide an opening above the case to the attendants space,'and an ice chest. positioned alongside the display case and connected therewith so as to supply a cold air circulation to the dis lay case.
