Be it known that I, ALBEBT A. How, a citizen of the United States,. residing at Terrill, in the county of Dickinson, State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nursery-Seats; and I do hereby declare the-following-to be a-full, clear, and exact "description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to an improved nursery seat or childrens toilet seat, and the,

object thereof is to provide an improved simple and novel arrangement of foldable parts adapted to form a bottom, a back and arms. In addition a tie strap is provided to prevent escape of the occupant, said tie strap. being designed to be used as a handle when the device is folded into a compact form for a carriage or for disposition within a suitcase for transportation or travel.

A further'object of the invention is to provide a device of the character specified in which the back and arms are foldabletoward the seat bottom or capable of being rigidly and substantially held in upright positions, the back being provided w1th means for engaging the arms for this purpose, while means are provided on the back to secure the arms or sides in folded relation to the bottom, the arms in addition 'to extend throug when the device is-fol ed so that the tie having tie strap engaging means so as to form a barrier at the front of the sert wheg in use said enga ing means being esi e i an o ening in the b ck stra can be used as a handle.

When the device is folded, the back is disposed against the bottom flush with the strip 12 and the ariihs or sides are folded down onto the back, the hooks or detachable fasteners 19 having been' previously disengaged from the arms. The eyes 22 then extend through an opening 25 formed at a proper place in the back so that the strap will project through the opening 11 and form a handle b which the device may be carried. In their folded r'elationthearms are held upon the back, and for this purpose the arms when so folded are disposed in spaced relation to accommodate'a vertical strip 26 which is secured to the back and carries a turn button 27 desi ned to span the arms. In this position of ale turn button, the arms will be held in collapsed relation upon the back and the latter upon the bottom, while alinement of the turn button with the strip will permit the seat to be arranged in operative form. The device may also be attached to an ordinary toilet seat or bowl by means of a movable fastener 28 consisting of an angular metallic arm formed of a horizontal portion notched as shown at 29 to engage a headed stud 30 depending from the bottom at the rear thereof adjacent to the opening 11 the arm having its free end curved slightly upward to resiliently grip the part towhich the device is attached.

It will thus be seen that the device can be easily and quickly applied and when so applied will be securely held in position and that it is especially desirable when traveling. It will also fold compactly and is therefore very easily transported.

It is of course to be understood that the folding arrangement provided in connection with the back and arms, may be employed in connection with any form of seat or chair, or settee, especially in conjunction with the arrangement of connecting the back and arms to hold the same in operative positions.

What is claimed is 1. A folding seat structure comprising a bottom, a back hinged to the bottom, said back having an opening therethrough, arms hinged at the sides of the bottom, means for fastening the parts when opened up, and a strap connecting the arms and adapted to extend through said opening to form a handle when the parts are folded.

2. A nursery-seat comprising a bottom, a toilet seat engaging device carried by the bottom, a back hinged-to the bottom, arms hinged at the sides of the bottom, said back having an opening therethrough, and a tie strap connecting the arms and adapted to extend through the opening of the back to form a handle when the parts are folded.

3. A nursery seat comprising a bottom having an opening, a back hinged to the bottom and having an opening adapted to register with the opening therein when the back is folded, arms hinged at the sides of the bottom and foldable onto the back when the back is folded onto the bottom, means to hold the parts folded, means to hold the back and arms in upright positions, eyes in the inner faces of the arms, and a tie strap connecting said eyes, said eyes and strap being adapted to project through said openings when the device is folded.

4. A nursery seat comprising a bottom having an opening, a back hinged to the bottom and having an opening adapted to register with the opening therein when the back is folded, arms hinged at the sides of the bottom and foldable onto the back when the back is folded onto the bottom, means to connect the back and arms when in upright positions, eyes in the inner faces of the arms adapted to project through said openings when the device is folded, and a strap havin hooks to be engaged with said eyes.
