IMPROVEMENT IN FLUID STOVE-POLISHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,917, dated December 17, 1872.

Be'it known that I, J OSEPH W. BIRCH, of
1 New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a certain Compound called Fluid Stove-Polish, of which the following is aspecifieation:
The nature of this invention consists .in
To prepare the fluid stove-polish-I dissolve about one-half (1}) pound of alum in one-third Q) of a gallon of water. Then taketwo and r one-half 2%) pounds of American plumbago, 'one (1) pound of German black lead, and half a pound of lamp-black, and mix the same 'with about two-thirds of a gallon of vinegar and half (g) an ounce of essence of oil of 1 almonds, and then add the dissolved alum. These ingredients must then be .well mixed for about one hour, for which purpose I pre fer a closed revolving cylinder, provided with internal projecting flanches or arms; after which the mixture is ready to he filled in bottles.
This polish is applied with a sponge or hair brush to the surface of the stove, and is then rubbed. either with a polishing -brush or a woolen cloth till dry, and will produce a finer polish and last longer than any other polish at present in use.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
