.RMPROVEMENT EN LAP-BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,302, dated November 26, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MERWIN CHURCH, of Chicago, Illinois, have invented certain Improvements in Lap-Boards, of which the following is a specification My invention consists of an improvement in lap-board's, which I make of sheet'iron or other suitable sheet metal, japanned and ornamented to suit the taste. My lap-board is wired, or bound around its entire edge with wire, for the purpose of stitt'enin g it. A swing standard or leg made of similar material, and wired, is attached to the outer edge of the board, midway between the ends, by a hinge formed by wrapping or winding the top of the swing standard orleg around the wire binding of the board. The object of the swing standard or leg is to support the outer edge of the board when in use and provide a means for hanging up the board when put away. It is so attached as to swing or turn around and form a support for either side of the board that may be desired to be used.
In the drawing, A represents the lap-board, B the wire binding of the same, and O the swing standard or leg, hinged to the lap-board, as described.
Figure 1 represents the shape of the lapboard; Fig. 2, a front view, showing the swing standard or leg; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The lap-board made of sheet-iron or other sheet-metal, wired, or bound with wire, described, all surfaced by japanning and ornamentation, and having the swing standard or leg attached, in the manner and for the purpose specified.
