PROTECTOR-ROD HOLDER FOR LOOMS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DORILA DEMEULE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Manchester, county of Hillsborough, State of New Hampshire, have invented an Improvement in Protector-Rod Holders for Looms, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a specification, like characters on the drawing representing like parts.
This invention relates to journal brackets for looms and the object thereof is to provide a journal bracket of a character which may be secured firmly to a part of the loom and which will not become loosened and dis engaged by the vibration of the loom or the part to which the bracket is attached.
More specifically the invention comprises improvements in brackets for supporting the protector rod of the loom from the lay. The brackets which have been heretofore generally used for supporting the protector rods from the lay have comprised L-shaped plates having downwardly extending bosses providing journals for the protector shaft, said L-shaped plates being secured to the lay by screws extending into the back face and bottom of the lay respectively.
The Vibration of the lay and the shock caused by the operation of the protector mechanism in time loosens the screws which thus attach the bracket to the lay and render the support for the protector shaft inoperative. The present invention contemplates the production of a journal bracket for the protector rod of a loom which can be so securely fastened to the lay that it will not be loosened by the vibration of the lay or the shock occasioned by the operation of the protector mechanism.
This is accomplished in the preferred embodiment of the invention disclosed herein by providing a bracket comprising two members, one of L-shaped form adapted to fit one face and bottom of the lay and having a downwardly extending boss providing a journal for the protector rod and a second member hinged to the free edge of the portion of the L-shaped member which engages the bottom of the lay, said hinged member being adapted to engage the-oppositeface of the lay. The bracket formed by these members is secured to the lay by a bolt passing through the lay and the members applied to the lay of the bracket which engage the faces of the lay and the nut on the bolt locked so that it cannot be unscrewed by shock or vibration.
t will be understood that while the invention herein disclosed is particularly applicable to journal brackets for supporting the protecting rods of looms it is capable of use in other relations' A further feature of the invention consists in providing a journal bracket of the class d scribed with means for anchoring the end of a spring for controlling the action of the protector rod.
Other features of the invention will more fully appear from the following description and the accompanying drawings and will be pointed out in the annexed claims.
The drawings illustrate my invention as of a loom of the usual Northrop type.

Inasmuch as the preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed as applied to the journal brackets for supporting the protector rod of a loom only a sufiicient portion of the loom is illustrated as is necessary to show the application of the present invention thereto. It will be understood that the portion of the loom so illustrated herein comprises the usual parts of the well known Northrop automatic filling replenishing loom.
