Referring to Figs. l to 7 the bracket consists of a vertical stem 1, attached at its upper end to the lamp body 2 in the manner hereinafter described, and provided at its lower end with a lug or tongue 3 which engages between the vertical jaws o1 cheeks of a fork 4 carried at the summit of a pillar 5 adapted to enter a socket 6 attached to a suitable part of the vehicle. The upper part2l of the bracket stem is externally screw-threaded and is of D-section, or other non-circular section, being adapted to be passed through a correspondingly shaped hole in a socket member 22 attached to the underside of the lamp. .The socket member 22 has a reduced portion which is externally screvv-threaded -and is adapted to be engaged by a union-nut 23 sivivelly attached to the stem by means of an internal flange of the nut 23 engaging beneath a collar 24: secured to the stem. The union-nut 23 can be fixed by means of a stem 1 are drilled aXially at 28, 29, re-
spectively, and upon opposite sides of the knuckle joint are drilled with lateral holes 30, 31, leading into the axial holes, the conductor being passed, as shown, up the pillar 5, through the lateral hole 30 near the top so as to bridge the joint, and through the lateral'hole 31 at the bottom of the stem l and thus up the aXial hole 29 of the said stem to the lamp. f
In a modification, instead of the knuckle joint being positively locked by a toothed cotter, a plain cotter may be employed adapted to engage either a plain periphery of the knuckle member, or suitable facets on the latter. y
It is to be understood that the knuckle joint may be locked in its adjusted position by any convenient means. For instance, as shown in Fig. 8, the pin 7 may have a serrated, square or other non-circular sectioned middle part 32 engaging a corresponding serrated or non-circular hole in the tongue member 3 of the joint and provided at one end with a head 33 having its inner face serrated to engage serrations on the outside face of the fork el, as at 34, while at the other end a serrated washer 85, feathered to the pin 7 by the key 36, can be taken intoV engagement with serrations 37 on the jaw of the fork 4 by means of the nut 8. Serrated washers 10, 10, are tted in recesses of the tongue 3 as in the previous form. v
The support or upper part of the bracket may be of any suitable type. It may, for
instance, be of the usual forked type engaging sockets on the sides of the lamp, the stem of the fork being knuckle jointed to the socket pillar.
The invention is equally applicable to motor-cycles, in which case the socket may be formed by the handle-bar stem.
Having lf'ully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent 'is l. A lamp bracket for vehicles and the like comprising a stem for attaching to the lamp, a pillar, a knuckle joint comprising fork and tongue members between the lower end of the stem and the upper end of the pillar, the op osite plain faces of the tongue member vaving recesses, friction Washers having both faces serratedlocated in said recesses in the'tongue member and engaging the plain faces ot' the fork member, means for locking the joint in different angular positions, a split socket receiving the pillar, and means for contracting the socket around the pillar to yfix, the latter in different angular positions within the socket.

A lamp bracket for vehicles and the like comprising a stein adapted to be attached to the lamp, a pillar, aknuckle joint between the lower end of the stem and the upper end of the pillar comprising fork and tongue members, a clamping nut on the joint pin for tightening the joint, a locking pin passed through the fork niember of the joint so as to engage the periphery of the tongue'member, a socket receiving the pillar, and means for fixing the pillar in different angular positions within the socket.
