IMPROVEMENT IN NURSING-CHEMISES.

Similar letters of reference indicate corre-l sponding parts.
My inventionvhas for its object to furnish an improved chemise, which shall be so constructed that a mother, in nursing her child, need not expose her breasts to view or to the air, and it consists in a chemise provided with vertical or cross slits in its front, and With covering-iiaps, as hereinafter more fully described.
A represents the chemise, in the front of which are formed vertical or cross slits a in such positions as to be directly' over the breasts of the wearer, and of such a size that the child can be conveniently nursed through them. B are iiaps of such a length as to cover the slits a/ and Wholly conceal them. The flaps B, when in place, may be secured by buttons or other convenient means.
The flaps B are represented in the drawing as being so made as to resemble a yoke; but they may be made of a different form, as taste, fashion, or the style of the garment may dictate.
When nursing the child the flap B is loosened and raised and the child is applied to the breast, the upper part of the breast and the bosom above the breast being never uncovered and exposed, thus enabling the child to be nursed without sacrificing the mothers delicacy or exposing her to the chance of takin cold.
The flaps B may be made plain or ornamental to any -desired extent.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A chemise, A, provided with vertical or cross slits a in its front, and with covering-naps B, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
