specification of Letters Patent.
I Application filed June 3, 1919. Serial No. 301,553.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jorrx DESJARDIXS, a citizen of the 'I'nited States. residing at Marinette, in thecounty of Marinette'and State of 'isconsin. have invented new and useful Improvements in Registers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in registers of hot air heating systems and one of the objects of the invention is to provide means for making a more even distribution of the hot air coming from the register in the room.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for moistening this air as it passes from the register.
The invention also consists in certain other' features "of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts. to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated 111 .the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, ref erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view showing the application of my invention;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view; i Fig. 3 isa front view with parts broken away.
In these views 1 indicates the register.
through which the air passes into the room from the usual flue which is connected with 1 the hot air furnace. Over the upper part of this register I locate a casing 2 which is of inverted trough shape in cross section.
One side of this casing is suitably attached mediately above the top of the register, is
provided witha strip 3 the upper edge of which is bent outwardly to form a receiving recess i. This recess is adapted to receive the depending flange 5 of the water holder 6 so that said holdermay be removed from the casing when it is desired to refill the same. This holder is of trough shape and is supported at the top of the register so that the heated air coming from the register will be supplied with moisture before passing Patented nears, rate.
into the room. The casing may be secured to the wall by being clamped between said wall and the register, or it may be secured to the-wall by the clips '7 which are secured to the rear side of the casing.
This casing for a hot-air register circulates the heated air more evenly and protects the walls and ceilings.
The casing can be made of any'kind of material and in many ditierent designs.
This casing can be used on any form of register where heat is furnished from a hotair, steam, or hot-water plant.
It is thought from the foregoing descripvtion that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire ity to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fali within the scope of the appended claims.
.W'hat I claim is 1. A device of the class described comprising a'cas'ing of inverted trough-shape. the rear side being of greater length than the front side with the endsof the casing in clined downwardly from the front to the rear and said rear side having a cut-away portion to fitaround the register.
2. A device of the class described comprising acasing having its rear side extending downwardly beyond the lower edge of the front side with the lower edges of itsends inclined downwardly from front to rear, 531d. rear side beof inverted trough-shape and ing recessed to receive the register, a strip secured to the rear side above the recessed portion and having its upper edge bent outwardlyto form a recessand a water holder having a depending flange engaging said recess. v
In testimony whereof I atiix my signature. J OHN DESJARDIXS.
