IMPROVEMENT IN SELF-LOCKING LIDS FOR CANS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,507, dated October 22, 1872.
To all whom t may concern:
WILLIAM'DOMEE, both of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Self-Locking Lids for Gans; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, aud exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference thereon.
Our invention consists in providing cans with self-locking lids and a stopper for the mouth of the cans.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use our invention, We will proceed to describe more fully its construction and operation.
In the accompanyin/gfdrawiug, which forms part of our specicataon, A represents an ordinary milk-can, the-top edge ofthe neck l of which is provided with a heavy bead, as shown at e. The inode of forming this bead is Well understood by all tinners. B represents the stopper, which is constructed so as to lill the neck and mouth or the can. The stopper B is provided with a handle, C, and has a chamber, f, which may be used for holding memorandums or notes sent by the shipper to the consignee. The stopper B will prevent the K and thereby allow the lid D to be removed from the neck of the can.
