To all whom it may camera: A A
Be itv known that I, ARTHUR A. BAoKHAUs, of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Liquid Fuel, (Case 10,) and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention relates particularly to fuelsdesigned to be used in any desired manner,
but it has application especiall to fuels adapted to be used as a source 0 power, as
for example, fuels for burners and motor fuels.
The object of my invention is to provide a fuel. containin a petroleum hydrocarbon, as well as alcoho and an ingredient adapted to blend the same orform a solution with th hydrocarbon and alcohol.
A further object of my invention is to provide afuel of this character, which is of such a nature that only a very small quantity of the third ingredient is found necessary.
A further object is to provide a fuel of this character which contains a large percentage of the petroleum hydrocarbon, notwithstanding the small percentage of the third ingredient.
A further object of my invention is to provide a fuel of this character in which the third ingredient is carbon disulfid and to provide a fuel which is free from constituents which are oxidizable by the air at normal temperatures.
Further objects of my invention will appear from the detailed description thereof contained hereinafter.
While my invention is capable of being carried out indifferent ways, for the purpose of illustration I shall describe only certain ways of carrying out the same herein.
'For example, a fuel made in. accordance with my invention may be comprised of 25 parts by volume of ethyl alcohol,
25 parts by volume of gasolene,
- 8 parts by volume of carbon disulfid.
While I ave described -'my invention above in detail, I wish it to be understood that man changes may be made therein without eparting from the spirit thereof.
ed mainly by a quantity of carbon disulfid present in the fuel.
. 2. A completely blended fuel comprising gasolene and an alcohol, said gasolene and alcohol being blended mainly by a quantity of carbon disulfid present in the fuel.
3; A completely blended fuel comprising a petroleum distillate and ethyl alcohol, said petroleum distillate and ethyl alcohol being blended mainly by a quantity of carbon disulfid present in the fuel.
4. A completely blended fuel comprising gasolene and ethyl alcohol, said gasolene and ethyl alcohol being blended mainly by a qualntity of carbon disulfid present in the fue 4 5. A completely blended fuel comprising substantially equal quantities of a petroleum distillate and an alcohol, said petroleum distillate and alcohol being blended mainly by 'mainly by a quantity of carbon disulfid present in the fuel.
8. A completely blended fuel comprising substantially equal and eth 1 alcohol, sald gasolene and ethyl alcohol eing blended mainly by a quantity of carbon disulfid present in the fue In testimony thatI claim the foregoing I have hereunto set m hand.
