QFFICE.
. CURTAIN-POLE.
Application filed .Tune 7, 1919.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ANNA GUTH, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State` of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Poles, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to curtain poles, drapery holders and the like, and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which is simple in construction and attractive and ornamental in appearance, and with which curtains, draperies and like articles may be suspended therefrom in a simple and eliicient manner.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are desigf nated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a side and sectional view ol' my improved holder with part of the construction broken away;
Fig. 2 a transverse section of the device as shown in F ig. l and indicating the method of suspending an article therefrom;
Fig. 3 a view similar to Fig. 1 showing only a part of the construction and showing a modication; and,
Fig. et an end and sectional view of the device shown in Fig. 3.
In Figs. l and 2 of the drawing I have shown my improved curtain pole or drapery holder which consists of a bar member a preferably composed of'wood or similar fibrous material, and one side face of which isv provided with a central longitudinal Vgroove a2. Mounted on the bar member t is a sheet metal covering Z2 which extends the full length of said bar, and the ends b2 of which are bent into the longitudinal groove a2 in the bar a, as clearly shown in Figs. l and 2. The ends of the bar a are provided witl sheet metal caps b3 secured thereto by tacks, nails or screws b4, and said caps are provided in one side thereof with recesses b5 which correspond with and which are in alinement with the groove a2 in the bar a.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec.r9, 1919.
serial No. 302,464.
Placed in and secured in the longitudinal groove a2 lis a strip c of cork or other suitable brous material and as shown in Fig. 2 acurtain, drapery or the like d may be suspended .from the bar 'a bypassing the upper end i? thereof around said bar and passing' headed pins e therethrough and into the strip c of cork or similar material, and it will be understood that said bar a may be suspended from the top of 'a window frame, doorway or the like by clamps or other devices placed thereon inthe usual manner. Y In Figs. 3 and 4E' of the drawing, I have :shown a slight modification which consists in providing the surface of the bar a with a plurality of longitudinal beads or grooves c3, and conforming the sheet metal covering to said beaded and grooved portions to give corrugated or iiuted appearance to the bar a when the sheet metal covering is applied thereto, and the perimeter of the cap plates L secured to the ends of said bar, only one of which is shown in said figure, is formed to correspond with the corrugated or iiuted construction of the bar a, and in this construction the ends of said sheet metal covering extend into the longitudinalV groove 0F in the bar ce, as in the construction shown in Figs. l and 2.
It will be understood that the bar a may be of any desired form and the sheet metal covering applied thereto may be formed to produce any ornamental design or effect, and while I have described my improvement as a curtain pole or drapery holder, it 'will be understood that the same may serve a picture molding, or the like, from which pictures and other articles may be suspended, and changes in and modications of the construction herein shown and described may be made, within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.i
Having fully described'my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a device of the class described, a recltangular bar member provided in one side face thereof with a'longitudinal groove or recess, a sheet metal covering extending entnely alound said member and the edges as my invention I have signed my name in of Wlneh are lnseted lnto sind groove, sind presence oi the subscublng Wltnesses thle groove being adapted o rece1ve a lllng oi 5th day of June, 1919.
