GEORGE BERNARD DAME, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO C. D. DURKEE & COMPANY, INCORPORATED, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
MOORINGr-BUOY.
Application filed September 23, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE BERNARD DAME, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Mooring-Buoy, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in mooring buoys, and the object of my improvement is to produce a mooring buoy which shall be lighter and more cheaply constructed and less wasteful of material than those heretofore in use.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 4, 1919.
Serial No. 325,658.
joined at their points of contact by insoluble glue or other adhesive substance which is proof against the action of water.
12 is a space which may be filled either with air or with crushed cork or other light substance.
13 is a tie rod with the usual eye 14 at one end and swivel 15 at the other end.
I am aware that heretofore buoys have been made of solid cork, and I am also aware that heretofore buoys have been made of wood or metal and hollow, but I am not aware that before my device any hollow cork buoy was ever made, or any buoy of cork with water proof adhesive substance between the different layers of the cork, or with the construction shown in Fig. 2.
I claim In mooring buoys, a buoy constructed of cork having end pieces of solid cork and intermediate sections built up of strips of cork so disposed as to inclose an interior open space, and joinedat all points of contact by an adhesive substance insoluble in water.
GEORGE BERNARD DAME.
