To all whom it may concern.' v
Be it known that I, Trinononn T. ANDRE- SIAK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of South Bend, in the county of St.' Joseph, State of lndiana, have invented certain new and useful Tmprovements in Adjustable-Drawing-Board Brackets, of which the following is a specification. Y
This invention relates to a supporting bracket for a drawing board, and an object of the invention is to provide a bracket, comprisinga clamping structure designed for clamping engagement with any article of furniture, such as a table, chair, stand or any suitable permanent support, which bracket has a drawing board supporting head carried thereby and connected thereto by means of an articulated structure to permit adjustment of the position of the drawing board to suit the conveniences of the user.l
Another object of this invention is to provide a bracket as specified, which is comparatively simple in construction, may be manufactured for a relatively lowcost, and one in which the simplicity of its construction rendersv it easy of operation.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following Ldetailed description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawl ings, forming' a part of thisspecification,
and in which drawings:
Figure 1 is a section through the improved drawing board supporting bracket. Fig. Q is a perspective view of the 4bracket having the board attached and showing the same applied to an ordinary stand. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the bracket looking at the same vfrom the rear and showing the board attached. Y

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates generically the clamp structure of the bracket. This 'clamp structure comprises jaws 2 and 3 which have portions of their facing surfaces cut-away to provide sufficient space for A engagement upon the opposite sides ofv a support. These cutaway faces are preferably covered with layers of cloth indicated at 4L, which cloth may be felt, or any Asimilar material to prevent the Y marringv of the article of furniture or 'sup'- port to Vwhich the clamp' is attached. The facingsurfaces of the jaws 2 and 3 are also providedv with substantially semi-cylindrical cut-out portions 5 intermediate the ends of the cut-away portions of their faces so as to adapt the clamp for engagement with a roundsupport.
A clamping screw 6 is carried by the j aw 2, extending through an opening 7 in the upper end ofthe same. The head 8 of thel clamping screw 6 is seated in a countersink 9 formed in the outer face of the jaw 2. The screw 8 extends loosely through the opening 7 and also through an opening 10 formedin the jaw 3. A clamping nut 11 is mounted upon the threaded end 12 of the screw and this nut is preferably constructed of wood and elongated so as-to extend longitudinally. of the Clamping structure to eliminate laterally projecting ends. The jaws 2 and 3 are pivotally connected, by means of bolts 14 and 15 to a Cylindrical arm 16 and these aws have their upper ends recessed for receiving one end of this cylindrical arm 16. Y The bolts 14- and 15 are clamped in place by means of wing nuts 17 so as to permit ofthe free and easy adjustment of the position of the cylindrical arm 16 with respect to the clamping jaws. lf it is desired, the facing surfaces of the jaws may be provided with substantially cylindrical cut-out portions 18 eX- tending longitudinally inl their inner faces and intermediate the edges thereof.
The outer end of the arm 16 is bifurcated and receives between the arm 19 formed thereby, the flat end 20l of the coupling member 21. This flattened end 20 is c connected -to the arm 16 by a' bolt 22, upon the threaded end of which a clamping member 23 is mounted. VThis clamping member 23 has a handle formed thereon to facilitate the rotation thereof to loosen or tighten` the clamping action between the arms '19 and the flattened portion 2O to permit `adjustment of; the coupling member 21 with respect to the'arm 16 or to hold these members4 against independent movement.

The outer end of the arm 26 is provided with abore 30 extending inwardly thereinto and this bore receives the shank 31 of,
the stem 32 which carries the board en- The end of the arm 26 which is provided with thebore 30 is split at' diametrically opposed points and the portions thus formed are securely clamped about the sliaiik'31` by a clamping structure 311 which includes a metal ring 35 carrying a'set screw 36 which set screw binds against a metal wear plate 37 and by loosening the set screw-36 the shank 31 may be 4 freely rotated within the bore 30.
The head 33 comprises a plurality of arms 38 which radiate from the stem 932 and 'are provided with openings in their outer ends v which receive screws .39 by means of which the Adrawing board 40 is connected to the head 33. The stem 32 projects a short distance beyond the board engaging surfaces of the arms 38 for seating in a suitable recess formed in the -under surface of the board l0 to facilitate the '4 proper positioning of `the board when vconnecting it to the bracket. The stem 32 may be' artistically designed between the shank 31 and the shank 41 which extends through the head 33,' if desired, and it is provided with a shoulder 42 for engagement against the outer end of the arm 26'to` limit the insertion ofthe shank 31 into the bore 30.
