SOAP-CONNECTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 14, 1919.
Application iled .Tune 14, 1919. Seria1 No. 304,346.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, vEDMUND A. KEY, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, resid ing at Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, have yinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap-Connectors, of which the following is a specilication.
This invention relates to a means for se- Fig. ,8 is an enlarged detail of the re- Y taining collar and the manner of securing it to the chain end.
Fig. 4 is a bottom view of the retaining collar.
In these drawings 2 represents a light` chain, one endV of which is secured by a swivel to a staple 3 secured to the facing of the wall adjacent the wash basin. To the other end of this chain 2 is secured an enlarged washer 4. The soap for use with this device is preferably spherical and has an Vaperture 8 diametrically through it, suflicient only to allow passage of the chain 2.
This aperture 8 is chambered or enlarged.
as at 9V to a position adjacent the center to receive the washer 4.
The washer 4 is connected to the end of the chain 2 by a staple 5, one end of which is secured in the collar, the other end of the staple being sufficiently clear, yas at 6, that the last. link of the chain maybe passedV onto the staple.
To prevent accidental removal of the chain from the staple a small plug 7 is screwed into the plug in alinement with the free end of the staple, the end of which plug is axially apertured that the plug may be screwed through the collar and onto the end of the staple.
The notch for the screw driver in the end of this plug 7 is preferably divided as shown, that an ordinary screw driver cannot be applied to it.
Y In use,.the plug 7 is drawn back and the chain 2 is removed from theJ collar through the space 6 of the staple; The chain is then passed through the aperture 8 of the soap and the collar re-applied and secured by the plug. The collar 4 is then drawn into the soap to the end of the chambering 9 and is ready for use. Y
Having now particularly described my invention, I hereby declare that what I claim as new and desire to be protected in by Letters Patent, is:
l'. A means for connecting a cake of soap to adjacent the wash basin,` said means comprising lthe combination with a chain having provision for connecting one endY of it adjacent the wash basin7 a button removably connected to the other end of the chain, said button having a hook staple secured on it, the hook endV terminating adjacent the button to leave a space, and a plug screwed through the vbutton to -close the space between it and the hook end of thestaple. e
2. AV means for connecting acake of soap to adjacent the wash basin, said means comprising the combination with a chain connected by a swivel to a staple having provision for vattachment adjacent the basin, of a button having a hook staple secured on it, which button has a threaded plug in alinement with the open end of the staple adapted to close the space between the staple and the button. v
In testimony whereof I aHX my signature.
A. KEY.
