U TED STATES CLOTHES-RACK.
Application filed November To all whom it may concern: v
Be it known that I, MARIE VVINZELER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Mason City, in. the county of Mason and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Clothes-Rack, ofwhich the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Among the principal objects which the present invention has in view are: to conserve the space necessary for packing when the rack is inoperatively disposed; to increase the hanging capacity of racks of the character mentioned; and to provide means for readily and quickly installing the rack in service position.
Drawings.
Figure 1 is a side View showing the wall plate and hanger arms pivotally connected therewith, said plate andarms being shown as disposed in substantially parallel planes;
Fig. 2 is a front View of a hanger constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention, the same being shown in the drawings'disposed as in service;
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of a rack, the parts whereof are disposed as in Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 is a detail view on an enlarged scale, showing a section of the construction, the same being taken as on the line- 14 in Fig. 3.
Description.
As seen in the drawings, a wall plate 9 g is rhomboid in shape and has in the center the middle of the sides of the plate '9 and relatively vertically disposed are hanging tabs 11. The tabs 11 are each furnished with an eyelet 12 adapted to be tapped to receive the heads'of fastening devices 13, which may be permanently secured to a standing structure on which therackis mounted,
Integrally mounted on the plate 9 are pivot brackets 14:. The brackets 14 are dis posed in paired relation, the brackets on the upper longitudinal member of the plate 9 7 being in line with those extended .from the lower member of said plate. Perforations are provided in the brackets l lfor receiving the pivot ends 15 of the skeleton supporting arms 16. v
As seen best on Fig. 4 of the drawings,

By meansof this arrangement, the longi-.
tudinal members 17 of each of thearms 16, are disposedin a different horizontal plane from the corresponding members of any other arm. When the arms are nested, as shown in Fig. 30f the drawings, it will be observed that atone where the terminal vertical framing members of the said arms cross the longitudinal members 17 of the other arms16, do the said arms interfere. By reason of this arrangement, the clothes rack constructed as shown and described .may be placed in a truck or satchel most conveniently.
A person having a rack of the character mentioned desiring to use the same, drives the fastening members 13 into a standing point only, to wit,
structure, so that the eyelets 12 fit snugly the narrow portions ofthe eyelets l2 engage the shanks of the fastening devices 13, the
heads of the fastening devices thereafter prevent the dislodgment of the plate 9. The arms 16 may now be spread substantially as shown in Fig. 2, where it will be observed that the arm 16 swung from the last pair of. brackets 14;, swings in a relatively lower horizontal plane than does-the I arm at the opposite end of the plate 9. When using the rack, it isobvious that clothes may and lower arms 16.

provided on one face with upper and lower being arranged in step form, and a plurality of arms, each consisting of "parallel and spaced members connected at one end, each arm having one member pivoted to a lug of the upper set andits other member to a lug of the lower set.
