. lNlPRVEM'ENT IN DREDGE-BOX'ES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 131,810, dated October 1, 137'42- plate having an upward iiange on its inner `edge or clrcumference, such plate forming the head of the main cover or top of the box, and a flanged cap, constituting the secondary cover, whereby a very good and perfect dredgebox is produced.

Dis the cylindrical portion or `body of the box, which is vmade in the ordinary Way. B
is an annular plate, having on its inner edge or circumference an upwardlyprojecting flange, q, and having its outer circumference turned, over to secure it to the ring or band a, and to secure Within it a plate, A. This plate A fits snugly against the plate B, and its portion oppositel the opening in the latter plate is perforated with small holes. These two plates A and B, with the ringo attached to the lat-V ter, constitute the main cover or top of the box. C is a cap of a size to fit over the upward ange b on the plate B, and cover the perforations in the plate A.
To fill the box with the substance to be dredged from it, the main cover AB is removed and the substance introduced. The cover is then replaced, and, when desirable to use the box, the secondary cover or cap G is removed, and the contents of the box may be dredged through the perforations in the main cover.
The advantages of this box are its peculiar strength and durability and the facility afforded by its construction for fitting the secondary cap perfectly-an effect which has not always been secured by other constructions.
