Be it known that I, SMUEL Premian,-
a citizen of the United States, and a resident ""'of Cleveland,` county of Cuyahoga, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Locking Apparatus for Vacuum vFuel Systems, of which the following' is a specification, the principleof the invention being herein explained and the best lo mode in which I have contemplated applying that principle,4 so as to distinguish it from other inventions.
The subject of the present invention is the provision of locking means suitable for use with vacuum fuel systems, such as are commonly employed on automobiles. The device consists of means for releasing the vacuum' on the small tank and of otherv means for locking the fuel lines prevent- 'ing flow of gasolcne from the vacuum'tank to the carburetor. To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, said inventin, then, consistsof the means hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims. The annexed drawings and the following description set forth in detail certain mechanism embodying the invention, such disclosed means constituting, however, but one V of the various mechanical forms in which the principle of the invention may be used.

In the normal running position shown in Eig. 1, the suction line 13 by-passes around the upper valve part 25 and then leads to the vacuum tank. The gasolene from the main tank passes below the-intermediate valve part 26 and out to the vacuum tank. The carbureter fuel line passes below the lower valve 4part 27 and -out through -thel 1ine.24 to the carbureter. i A
The piston valve is automatic in its operation. When the valve dropsLall the ports are closed and the suction created at the top' of the casing .raisesjthe valve and allows the suction line to be opened to the vacuum tank thus' awing the gasolene into., the same fr the main tank.: 10o
When it is desired to lock the car, the key lock is turned to 'the position shown in Fig. 3 venting the incoming suction line 6 and also the outgoing suctlon line 7 leading to the-valve casing/.through theapertures 10. This allows the piston valve to drop,\ which closes the main gasolene line to the vacuum tank, as well as the linefrom'the vacuum tank to the carbureter'.
