GAME AFPAIIELAJFUS.v
To all whom t may concern? Be it known that I, JAMES J. HENDRON, a citizen of the United States of America, residin at Chicopee Falls, in the county of Hamp en and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in game apparatus of the type in which a plurality of grooves are'provided or formed in the bottom portion of a box-like structure vand with suitable devices for deiecting a plurality of marbles or other devices down an inclined plane whereby they will fall into one or more of the grooves. These grooves may have any des1red value assigned to them suitablefor playing the game.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view partly in section, showing the interior construction of the apparatus and with the cover in a raised position when the game is being played and indicating several positions of the balls that have been dropped from the upper end of the casing within the cover and also kindicating the ball as it is deliected from the bellshaped member in the cover; also showing the balls in several of the grooves in the base part of the box.
Fig. 2 is a front view looking into the cover and showing the base part of the box in section to indicate the spaced ribs.
Fig. 3 iS a plan view of a portion of the base part of the box indicating the value of the grooves.
Referrin to the drawings in detail: The base part o? the box is indicated at 1, which is provided in the bottom portion with a plurality of ribs 2, which are spaced from each other to form the ball receiving grooves 3. These grooves are shown in Fig. 3. In the bottom of these grooves are placed the values of the throws indicated by the numerals 3, 5, 7, 7, 5, and 3. In the cover, which is indicated at 4, is placed a coneshaped inclosure member 5, in the upper end of which is an opening 7, through which a f small ball or marble is dropped as indicated at 8. Located in the inclosure 5 is a transversely arranged bar 9, which is secured to the ends of the inclosure 5, as indicated at 5 Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 19. 1919.
Application led May 20, 1919. Serial No. 298,414.
in Fig. 2. Mounted on this bar is a bellshaped or semi-Spherical member Il0, by.
means of the post 11 for the purpose of defiectingthe dropped marbles in any direction onto the inclined piece 12. From this piece they roll down into the box 1 and into one or more of the grooves 3. It will be noticed that the bar 9 permits the marbles to drop through the opening 9 on the rear side as well as the forward side, the same depending upon how they are deiiected by the member 10. On account of the semi-spherical upper surface of the part 10, the marbles are deiected in any direction and may, therefore, roll into the outermost grooves 3 as well as those directly in the center. In playing the game different numbers may be agreed upon as constituting the game, depending upon the wishes of the players, as 400, or 500,
It will be seen that I have provided a game apparatus which is Simple and inexpensive in structure and one which can be used by persons possessing little or no skill in the matter of playing contested games.
`The cover 4 is held open by means of the brace 13, or stop hinges.
What I claim is: v
1. In a game apparatus, the combination with a base member or box-like structure provided with a plurality of parallelly arranged grooves, a cover for the base member, an inclosure secured to the coven' and having a transversely located bar therein, a semi-Spherical member secured to the bar for deflecting anA article, as a marble, when dropped onto the same, an inclined plane below the semi-spherical member for directing the travel of the marble or other device into one of the grooves in the base member, as described.
2. In a game apparatus, the combination with a base member formed with a plurality of parallelly arranged grooves, a cover therefor and having an inclosure structure therein, the upper part of the inclosure having an opening through which a marble or other spherical device is dropped, a semi-spherical member located directly below the opening for the purpose of deiiecting the marble or the like in all directions and having an inclined plane below the semi-spherical desoy vice for deflecting the marble into the cluding an inclined plane in the cover for grooves below the inclined plane, as dedeflectmg dropped marbles into the grooves,
scribed. said devices including a semi-spherical mem- 10 Y 3. A. game apparatus comprising in comber ionto which themarbles or thelike are 5 bination a base member having grooves in dropped.v
