IMPROVEMENT` IN SHOW-STANDS.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH R.'PALMEN BERG, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show'Stands, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in au improvement of the show-stands for which Letters Patent were granted to me January 30, 1872 5 and consists in the construction of vthe extension brackets, whereby the same are more simple, cheaper, and more convenient.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents a side view of a show-stand embodying my invention.
A and B are bars or rods hinged together at the upper ends upon a suitable distancebar. Similar distance-bars are arranged at the bottom of the rods A and B, upon which a rod, F, and socket G, are arranged, Working into each other, as described in my former patent, and forming the frame of the sta-nd. To the bars B sockets H are fitted, capable of being moved and fixed in any desired position. To these sockets H tubes M are hinged, capable'of being adjusted in any desired inclination by means of set-screws n u. Into these tubes M the ends of the brackets P, shown in place in Fig. II, `are inserted, consisting of suitable pieces of iron, bent and soldered together to form the desired support for lthe articles to be exposed for show, or to support plates of metal or glass, as may be desired, upon which the articles are placed. In the end of the tubesM suitable set-screws m are arranged, to fasten the ends of the brackets P in any desired position.
This construction of a show-stand presents the same advantages enumerated in my pat ent of January 30, 1872, besides being more simple and less expensive.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isd- In combination with an adjustable shown stand, the arrangement of the adjustable hinged sockets or tubes M, into which the ends of the brackets P are inserted, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
