ADJUSTABLE HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
. Patented July 29, 1919.
Application filed May 15, 1919. Serial No. 297,373.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRVIN F. SHANK, a citizen of the United States, residingat Agency, in the county of Wapello and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Hangers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in adjustable device for hanging hogs to facilitate dressing the same, and consists of a Simple and eflicient device of this nature having various details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which:
Figure 1 is a .view in elevation showing the application of my invention, and
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail perspective of the hanger.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter:
A and B designate two bars each provided with a concaved end piece G, one bar having serrations upon its edge as at D and the other bar having straps E fastened at their opposite edges which serve as means to guide the two bars in their telescoping move- Gopiee of this patent may be obtained for ments. The strap at the end of the bar A serves an additional function for engaging the serrations to hold the bars in difi'erent adjusted positions.
A rope L is provided with loops N at its ends which pass through the aperture R in the concaved end 0 and the adjacent ends of the rope have eyes T formed therein, and to which a ring S is fastened, and alfording means whereby the hanger may be suspended.
In operation, the loops N are caught over the legs of the hog. After the two bars have been adjusted to the proper size of the hog to be raised and suspended by the device the loops will draw the legs of the hog against the concaved ends and securely hold the same, as will be readily understood.
By the provision of a hanger made in accordance with my invention, it will be noted that a simple and efficient device is afforded whereby the device may be adjusted to adapt the same for suspending hogs of clifferent sizes, by causing the strap at one end of the bar A to engage the difi'erent serrations on the other bar.
What I claim to be new is:
An adjustable hanger, consisting of two extensible bars, and means for holding the same in different relative adjusted positions, the outer end of each bar having a concaved portion adapted to engage the convexed part of an article and prowided with a plurality of apertures one on either side of the bar, loops passing through said apertures and adapted to engage the articles and hold the same against the concaved portion.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
IRVIN F. SHANK.
