known as supports and more particularly relates to a receptacle handle support.

It is the primary aim and object of the present invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character designed to be attached to the body of a receptacle and positioned so as to receive and support the bail handle of the receptacle in a partially upright position, thereby preventing the bail handle from contacting with the sides of the receptacle and becoming heated when the contents of the receptacle is heated or cooked.

More particularly the present invention embraces the provision of a device of the above mentioned character, the construction of which is novel and designed from a single piece of wire capable of being bent to assume the desired shape and embodying generally an attaching portion and a supporting portion.

Among the other aims and objects of the present invention may be recited the provision of a device of the above mentioned character wherein the construction is simple, the cost of production low and the efficiency high.

Other objects, as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of this invention will be more readily apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims, forming a part of this specification.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is provided a cooking receptacle including generally a Specification of Letters Patent.

cylindrical body 1 to which is swingably connected at opposite points near the upper edge a bail handle 2, the body being also provided near its upper edge but beneath the point of connection of the bail with spaced outwardly projecting annular ribs 3, the space between which constitutes a peripheral groove 4 while mounted in the groove and designed to support the handle 2 in a partially upright position is the improved handle supporting attachment generally designated by the numeral 5-.

In reducing the present invention to practice this handle supporting attachment is desirably formed from a single piece of wire which is coiled upon itself to provide a resilient attaching ring 6 one end portion of the wire which forms the terminal portion 7 of the ring being arranged in overlapping relation with the correspondingly curved portion 8 of the ring to permit of the expanding of the ring so that the device may e accommodated about various sized receptacles, as is apparent. The opposite end portion of the wire continues upwardly from the ring 6 immediately adjacent the portion 8 thereof and preferably at right angles thereto providing a supporting arm 9 the upper portion of which is slightly inclined as at 10 while the extreme upper terminal of the arm is bent to provide a receiving and supporting hook 11 for the bail 2, the inclining of the arm as at 10 insuring of the positioning of the hook in the path of the handle 2 so that the handle will be supported in a partially upright position above the upper edge of the receptacle and of course is thereby prevented from contacting with the sides of the body of the receptacle and becoming heated. As a result of the use of this attachment, it is apparent that the bail handle 2 will not become easily heated and can be easily handled by the user, as is apparent.

It is believed in view of the foregoing description that a further detailed description of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent.

Still further embodiments of the invention than those herein especially defined may be resorted to as conditions or preference may dictate, as may be in keeping with the hereto appended claims.

Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is:

1.
