In applying this invention it is-preferable to utilize standard rectangular.;:sectioned bars of very hard materiah such as tool steel, the bars being merely cut intozsuitable lengths by transverse sawing along'a single plane, without reducing the cross'section of the bars at any point throughout their lengths. ,The bars afterbeingzisawed' into suitable lengths are provided with recesses; adjacent their= gends.
