Description
G. w. BALOGH AND L PUSKI.
TRANSPARENT SIGN.
APPLICATION FILED AUG.I5, I91?- Patented July 1, 1919,.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE WILLIAM BALOGH .AJNI'IIJ L AJJISLAWi P'U'SKI, OF IBUFFALQ NE W YORK.
mlvsrnnnnr SIGN.
This invention relates to improvements in transparent display signs in which colored characters are shown upon a translucent plate in connectionwith a powerful light so'that the sign may be read at a considerable distance.
The principal object of the invention is to provide means whereby such signs may be easily and conveniently attached in operative position.
A further object is to provide interchangeable panels in forms which may be changed without in any way disturbing the remainder of the sign structure.
These and other like objects are attained by the novelconstruction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which:
Figure 1 shows a sign casing made in accorlance with the invention in front view, an
Fig. 2 is a cross-section through the casing showing the lamp and the means for fasten ing the casing to a desired object.
In the drawing is shown an assembled view of the sign, in which the hollow casmg 10, has rear elements 35, extending below the bottom of the casing and containing perforations in which may be entered the bolts 36, having adjacent to their threaded portionscollars 37, against which the extensions 35 may be held by the nuts 38, the bolts beng reentrantly formed with stems 40, hav mg plates 41, receptive of screws or the like by means of which they may be fastened to any desired object.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 1, 1919.
Application filed August 15, 1917. Serial No. 186,329.
Extending oppositely from the bolts 36, v
I are other bolts 42, formed with collars 43,
and provided with nuts 44, in a similar manner.
The lower element 45 of the casing structure has a plurality of raised lugs 46, having arcuate recesses suited to receive corresponding projections 49, formed with the lower element 50, of .the frame 12, which contains atransparent plate 20.
Obviously the main structure 10, may be 0 held firmly in relation to a support 'but if it is desired to change the sign the nuts 44 are released, allowing the plate carrying frame to be swung outward, and then lowered so that the upper end may be drawn out of the recess 52, formed in the upper element of the casing, thereby permitting a new plate to be inserted.
In the form is shown, an oil lamp 30, hav; a
ing a chimney 31, and a hollow base 32, to contain the inflammable material used in connection withlthe lamp,
In operation, the structure having been secured by the bolts 36, the desired plate is positioned by the nuts 44, and the lamp caused to glow.
Having thus described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is ononcn WILLIAM BALOGH. aanienaw ritsm.
