To all whom it mdy concern:
Be it known that I, BOY H. SHANE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Quinter, in the county of Grove, State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Valves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in valves and particularly to valves for oil burners of cooking or heating stoves.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a valve by means of which the flow of oil to the burner can be more effectively regulated.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which is simple in construction, comparatively cheap to manufacture and which is easy and elfective in its operation.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following descript1on when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

By reason of this movement of the stem across the inner end of the passage 17 a more per feet control of the flow of oil can be had than with the ordinary needle valve, in
which oil immediately starts to flow through the bore of the valve when the point is raised from its seat to the slightest degree, while with the present device oil does not start to flow until the stem partly uncovers the in ner end of the channel or passage 17. Fur-i thermore, it will be noted that the passage 17 will be closed before the point of thevalve stem is seated in the tapered end of the bore whereby said pointed end will drive out of the valve any oil which might betherein.
lNhat is claimed is:
A valve including a casing having oppositely arranged and alined threaded nipples, a nipple formed on the casing and projecting between the first-named nipples, the casing having a longitudinal central circular bore opening at its ends through'the firstnamed nipples, said bore communicating with the projecting nipple by a narrow fiat passage, one end of the bore being formed with a tapered seat, and a pointed valve stem disposed in the bore and arranged to engage with said tapered seat, the side of the said stem covering and controlling said flat passage, the pointed end of the said stem being arranged to be seated and unseated to control the flow of fluid through the adjacent nipple and the flat passage. i p
