To all whom it may, concern Be it known that I, .lonm F. GODFREY, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Elkhart, county of Elkhart, and
State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Self-Dumping ilonveying-Buckets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in self dumping buckets and especially to self dumping buckets used for conveying coal, and like materials, from one place to another. 1
An object of my invention is the production of a self dumping bucket provided with bottom dumping doors having improved trip mechanism for automatically dumping the bucket. Other objects. are n'ientioned and described herein.
The preferred embodiment of my inven tion is well illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a side clcvation of a bucket to which my invention is apphcd; Flg. 2 1s a section in elevation through the bucket shown in Fig. 1; Fig.
3 is an enlarged fragment of the bucket bottom showmg" one door and'the trip mechan1sm 1n operative position; and Fig. 4 15 a view showing the bucket operated by an overhead carrier system having a tired trip member.

On the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a bucket body open at the top and bottom thereof, said bottom being normally closed by a pair of cooperating dumping doors 2 and 3, respectively, which are hinged to the bucket at l and 5,, respectively. and adapted to swing downward. for dumping the bucket contents.
Numerals 6 and 7 indicate coil springs anchored within and to the bucket at 8 and 9, respectively, and at 10 and 11, respectively,

The combination with a bucket provided with a pair of hinged bottom dumping doors, of a carrier bar member mounted upon one of said doors and projecting therefrom beneath and across the other door; a movable spring pressed latch member engaging beneath said bar ,and adapted to support same and said doors; a movable spring retracted trip member carried by one of said doors and adapted to actuate said latch member upon the descent of the bucket, whereby said latch is -discngaged from beneath said carrier bar; and'a stop member for limiting the retracted movement of the trip member.

In a bucket. of the class described, a hinged bottom dumping door carried by the bucket; a carrier bar mounted upon said door and extending across the bucket bottom; an oscillatory spring pressed carrier lever mounted upon the bucket and engaging beneath said carrier bar for supporting same and thereby said door; a movable spring retracted trip mcn'lbcr carried by said door and adapted to actuate said lever upon the descent of the bucket, whereby said lever is disengaged from beneath said carrier bar; and a stop member for limiting the retracted movement of the trip member.
4-. In a bucket having a hinged bottom dumping door, a carrier bar mounted upon said door and extending across the bucket bottom; a movable spring pressed bar carrier member mounted upon the bucket and provided with a ledge adapted to normally engage beneath said bar for supporting same and thereby said door; a trip supporting member mounted upon said carrier bar adjacent its outer end; a movable spring retracted trip member having one end thereof arranged adjacent said bar carrier member and carried by said trip support member, the other end thereof being otherwise carried, said trip member being adapted to actuate said bar carrier and thereby its ledge from beneath said bar upon the descent of the bucket, whereby said door is free to open; and means for limiting the retracted movement of the trip member,

In a bucket having a pair of h nged bottom dumping doors, a bar mounted upon one of the doors and extending therefrom beneath and across the other door; an 0scillatory spring pressed carrier lever mounted upon the bucket and engaging beneath said bar and adapted to support same and thereby said doors; a trip supporting member mounted upon said bar adjacent its outer end; a movable spring retracted trip men'iber having'one end thereof hinged to a link which is .pivoted in said bar member, the other end of said trip member being carried by said supporting member and arranged adjacent said carrier lever, said trip member being adapted to oscillate said carrier lever upon the descent of the bucket,
whereby said lever is disengaged from bencatll'said bar; and means for limiting the retracted movement of the trip member.
