To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES SIMANIK, a citizen of the Re ublic of Austria, of Calder Station, in the rovince of Saskatchewan, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flying- Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in flying machines and the objects of the invention are to more advantageously utilize the power developed, to render the several parts easily accessible for inspection or repair and generally to adapt the several parts to better perform the functions required of them.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists essentially of the im proved construction articularly described and set forth in the ollowing specification and accompanying drawings forming part of the same.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the improved flying machine, comprising a plurality of rectangular frames 10 operatively connected by the diagonal braces 11, the said frames being arranged in the form of a square equidistantly spaced apart, the longitudinal members 12 of the said frame terminating in pointed ends 13 so that the wind pressure to the forward motion of the machine will be reduced.
Equidistantly spaced from the said frames is the body of the flying machine B which is rigidly secured in position by any suitable means and provided with rails 14 from which the carriage 15 is adjustably suspended by roller 16 or the like, means being provided whereby access from the carriage 15 to the body B may be readily attained.
Rotatably mounted in the body B are a pair of shafts 17 arranged in alinement and suitably connected by the coupling 18, the ends of the shaft being provided with beveled gears 19 designed to mesh with the crown wheel 20 driven from the engine C, the said crown wheel being designed to mesh with the beveled gear 21 carried by the propeller shaft 22 on the outer end of which the propeller 23 is secured.
By this arrangement it will be seen that should either of the engines 0 go out of commission the flying machine will be readily driven from the remaining engine.
It will of course be understood that the engines C are provided with suitable clutch mechanism by means of which they are thrown into and out of gear.
Pivotally mounted on each end of the machine A are vertically disposed rudders D which are operated by the links 24 extending to the carriage 15 so that the direction of the flying machine is readily controlled.
The lifting power is given to the machine by a plurality of gas bags E mounted in the frames 12.
The assembly of the airship will be readily understood from the foregoing description.
When the airship is in commission the gas bags E are filled with a suitable gas and on the engine 0 being started the flying machine A will rise, the direction of the machine being controlled by the rudders D.
By arranging the gas bags E in the manner disclosed by the applicant it will be readily seen that great stability is given to the machine while at the same time by forming the frames 12 in the manner set forth, skin friction is greatly reduced.
As many changes could be made in the above construction, and many apparently widely difi'erent embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claim, constructed without departing from the spirit or scope, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
