In lieu of elastic bands I may use springs so arranged as to act under compression or extension for my purpose.

In the modification shown in Fig. 4:, the frames at are permanently secured together by the metal .cross stays it, although they may be permanently secured by other means such as a panel of wood or the like. In this modification the side members of the frames are formed with slots a, the platform 0 being disposed between two pairs of bars (Z, (Z, c, e, slidable and guided with such slots. The table 0 is suspended and supported by the elastic bands or cords f and the device is operated in the manner described with reference to the preceding figures.

An obvious modification is to provide for the inversion of the table or platform itself and means for effecting this are shown in Figs. 5 and 6.
