Be it known that 1, Leo J. W RNER, a citizen of Russia, residing at Arlington, in the county oft Hudson and State of New Jersey, U. S. 3a., have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Circuit-Breakers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to circuit breakers used in connection with i nition enerators preferably of the magneto type, in whicha circuit breaker is used for controlling the time of producing the ignition impulses. By way of illustration, I have shown my circuitbreaker as applied to a magneto of the Dixie type, in which the generating coil is stationar". being carried on relatively fixed pole pieces which are carried on integral bearing members that are adjustable for timing ll'DOSeS. Fastened to the base plate 3are studs 14 and15, the outer extremities of which carry a yoke 16.- The yoke 16 has a central aperture adapted to receive a hollow bearing member 17. Within the hollow part of member 17 is a movable bushing 18, on the inner end of which is attached the central part of a yoke 19, the outer extremities of which carry studs 20 and 21 that are fastened securely to the A spacing member 22 is preferably used on the bushing 18 between the yokes L6 and 19. The outer extremity of the bushing 18 is fiatted off as at 23 and on these flat portions is mounted a lever arm 24, which is put in placeafter the cover 25 has been placed in position, a. spacing washer 26 being used between the cover and the lever 24. A spring 31 fas tened to the block 7 has its free end resting against the inner head of the contact stud 35 28, thereby forming an electrical circuit from the contact block 7 to the outer end of the stud 28 for a purpose which will be later referred to.
From the above described construction it will be seen that the breaker base 6 is movable with the lever and since the breaker members 7 and 9 are carried on the member 6, the time at. which the cam on the rotating part of the magneto 1 hits the bumper 32 can be varied at will. For the sake of clearance the shaft of the magneto with the cam is omitted from the view, but it will be understood that the cam is in proper position and operated to engage the bumper 32. In a circuit breaker mechanism the combination of a base plate having a hole therein, a breaker base having a pilot to fit the hole in said base plate and carrying breaker parts consisting ofstation ry and movable members, a yoke fastened to but spaced apart from said base plate and carrying a bearing, a bushing movably fitted in said bearing and carrying a yoke having studs attached to said breaker base. and means associated with said bushing for moving it and the breaker base as described.
2. In a circuit breaker mechanism the combination of, a base plate having studs fastened thereto, a yoke carried by said studs, a second yoke movably carried by the first. and having studs attached thereto, a breaker base fastened to the last mentioned studs but guidingly supported by said base plate carrying breaker parts consisting of stationary and movable members and means for moving the movable yoke and breaker base for thepurpose described.
3. In a circuit breaker mechanism the combination of, a base plate havingstuds fastened thereto, a yoke carried on the outer ends of said studs, a bearing in said yoke,
a movable bushing in said bearing, a yoke carried on one end of said bushing and having supports fastened thereto, a breaker base fastened to said supports but also guidingly supported by the base plate and carrying stationary and movable breaker members, a cover for the breaker members fitting around the base plate and said bearing and a control lever attached to one end of the said combination of, a'base plate having-studs fastened thereto, a yoke carried on the outer ends of said studs, a bearing in said yoke, a movable bushing in said bearing carrying an insulator and contact stud within the insulator, a yoke carried on one end of said bushing and having supports fastened thereto, a breaker base fastened to said supports but also guided in its'movements by the base plate, movable and relatively stationary contact members carried by the breaker base the stationary contact member being insulated therefrom, a rubbing contact member engaging .the insulated contact member and a yielding member extending between the said contact member and the said contact stud carried by the said bushing for the purpose described and means fastened tothe other end of said bushing for moving it and the breaker base. v
5. In a circuit breaker mechanism the combination of, a base plate carrying a yoke member spaced away but in front of it, a breaker base carrying movable and stationary contact members rotatably supported by and between said yoke member and base plate and means for rotatably moving said breaker base for the purpose described.
6. In a circuit breaker mechanism the combination of, a base plate carrying a yoke member spaced away butin front of it, a breaker base carrying contact operating means rotatably supported by and between said yoke-member and base plate, a cover for said breaker base and parts mounted thereon and means outside the cover for rotatably moving said breaker base as described.
