To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, ALFRED Lnvroens, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at North Bay, Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Guns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention relates to fly guns and more particularly to that class of flyswatters as described in my former patent granted on August 21, 1917, Number 1,237,346.

An object of the present invention is to provide a gun of this character wherein the swatter may be easily and readily cocked and to generally improve this class of fly swatters, so as to reduce the cost of manufacture and render the same commercialy desirable.

WVith the above and other objects in View which will hereinafter appear as the descripti on continues, the invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and formation of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the gun when the swatter has been released;

Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the position of the swatter when presented for use;

Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the handle of the gun when the swatter is in the position as shown in Fig. 2; and,

Fig. 1- is a similar view through the handle of the gun when the swatter has been re leased.

The invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, with the further understanding that while the drawings show a partial form of the invention, the latter is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings, but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention.

Like and corresponding parts are indicated by similar reference characters throug out the several views The numeral 1 indicates the handle of the gun having a right angular portion 2 and formed within this right angular portion is an opening 3 in which is seated a trigger 4:- This trigger is preferably made of one continuous piece of wire having one end 5 anchored within the member 2 and its 0pposite end which is free is provided with a recess 6 and a curved extremity 7 Pivotally mounted as at 8 upon the upper face of the member 2 is one end of a swatter arm 9. This swatter arm is preferably made of two strands of wire twisted upon each otherand having their outer ends bent to form a circular frame over which is stretched a netting 1O which'forms the swatterand these circular ends are surrounded by a felt padding 11 which will protect the furniture or other articles from becoming scratched or otherwise injured when the swatter comes in contact therewith. The swatter arm is provided with an angular U-shaped-portion 12 which is adapted to ride over the curved extremity 7 of the trigger and be seated within the recess 6 s0 as to hold the swatter in the position as better shown in Fig. 2 or in position for firing. A coil spring 13 is provided having one end 14 connected to the arm 9 and its opposite end 15 resting upon the upper face of the platform 2.

It is obvious that by providing a swatter of this construction when the swatter is raised the U-shaped extension 12 will engage A the trigger and retain the swatter arm in a vertical position against the tension of the coil spring 13. WVhen the trigger 4 has been pulled the curved extension 7 will bend forward whereby the extension 12 will be released from the recess 6 which in turn will release the swatter arm. and permit the swat- V ter to strike the fly which it is aimed at.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim. as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A fly gun comprising a handle, a swatter arm pivoted to said handle, formed of a trigger, said trigger comprising one continuous piece of Wire having one end anchored Within said extension, the opposite end of said trigger being curved and having a notch formed therein, a swatter, a sWatter arm connected to said sWatter and pivotally supported upon said extension, an angular extension formed with said swatter arm, a coil spring connected to said swatter arm, and the angular extension of said sWatter arm adapted to engage the notch of said 10 trigger substantially as and for the purpose specified.
