Description
W. E. SKINNER.
Improvement in Butter-Workers.
Patented Aug. 6,1872.
Wihmesse NLU(W 8okww hw enhr 12/ CQ WM i I k thwn 2 .1 M v I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
WILLIAM E. SKINNER, OF MILFORD, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN BUTTER-WORKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,159, dated August 6, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. SKINNER, of Milford, in the county of Ashland and State of Michigan, have invented an Improved Butter-Press; and do hereby declare that the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying plate of drawing, hereinafter referred to, forms a full specification of the same, wherein I have set forth the nature of my said invention, by which the same maybe distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts as I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
My invention relates to that class of household utensils which are made use of for pressing butter; and the nature thereof consists in certain modifications in the details of the construction of the same, hereinafter described and shown.
In the accompanying plate of drawing, which illustrates my invention and forms a part of the specification thereof, Figure 1 is a view, in perspective, of the machine.
The construction and operation of my invention are as follows:
In the drawing referred to, letter A designates the bed-plate, upon which is firmly secured the standard B. In the top of the said standard are out apertures, through which the follower O is raised and lowered by means of the lever D. The butter-box E is divided into two parts, e and e, which are hinged to the sliding plate F in such a manner that they may be opened with facility to allow of the removal of the butter after it has been pressed by the stamp 11 attached to the follower C. When the butter is being pressed the parts are held firmly together by the clamping-rod I, which is hinged to one of the said parts. The said sliding plate F is provided with a stop, K, and button f to regulate its movement, and may be made to reciprocate upon the bedplate, or be separated with facility from the machine, as may be desired.
Having described my invention, I will state what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent in the following clausesthat is to say:
I claim- 1. In a machine for pressing butter a sliding bed-plate provided with a butter-box, the parts of which are hinged thereto, as described.
2. The arrangement and combination of the bed-plate A, standard B, follower O, lever D, butter-box E, and sliding plate F, all operatin g together as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto sub- I scribed my name this 9th day of March, 1872.
WILLIAM E. SKINNER.
