Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Apr. 15, 1919.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS W. FLownns, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Goldsboro, in the county of Wayne and tate of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Shade-Roller Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in adjustable window shade hangers, and it consists inthe constructions, combinations and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide a hanger for shade-rollers, that can be adjusted to fit any size of shade-roller or window casing, one of the important features'of the hanger consisting in the novel construction of the roller brackets at the ends of the hanger.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is an elevation of a part of a window casing showing the invention applied,

The improved hanger comprises a pair of extensible bars 1 and 2 that are loosely held together by bands 3 which are secured at 4 to the respective ones of the bars. bined bar clamp and hanger cordattachment 5 has a ring 6 which when pressed downwardly tightens the clamp on the bars and secures whatever adjustment was previously made.
The tubular head 7 of the clamp has a-hole into which the end of the hanger cord 8 is inserted. The end of the cord is knotted or provided with some other suitable device to keep it in place in the head. The cord 8 passes over a roller 9 with an eccentric groove, the operation of the roller being to hold the hangerwith the shade 10 in any desired position with respect to the window casing.

The purpose of the invention is easily understood. The bars 1 and 2 can be extended to any ordinary width of shade roller or window casing. The entire fixture is lowered as.much as desired so that the window can be openedto admit fresh air. By means of the arrangement of the end caps and the disposition of the prongs 1 1, the roller brackets when once put in place are held there permanently. It is only necessaryto move the'clamp 5 into a central position where the hanger will balance, after each adjustment.
I claim pair of extensible bars with angularly positioned grooves in the extreme ends, bands encircling the bars to hold them together, said bands being'secured to the respective bars, a combined clamp and hanger cord at tachment, consisting of a clamp portion encompassing the'bars, with a movable clamp ring operating above said portion; shade roller hangers includin prongs occupying the aforesaid grooves, with inwardly turned ends resting on top of the bars to prevent the hangers from pulling'out, and means including'end caps arranged to be secured over said prongs.

In ashade-roller hanger, a bar having a pair of grooves disposed transversely thereof near the end and asecond pair of grooves disposed at an angle to the first pair, a roller bracket having prongs located in the angular pair of grooves and provided with inwardly bent portions to rest on top of the bar, and a cap slidably fitted over the end of the bar to house the prongs and being provided with flanges to fit in the transverse I grooves and keep the cap from coming ofl'.
