To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ROBERT R. KERMACK and EDWARD Gr. ODoNNELL, citizens of the United States, residing at Portsmouth and Newington, respectively, in the count of have invented certain new and useful Imrovements in Sprayer Attachments forv ose-Nozzles, of which the followin is a specification, reference being had to t e ac- This invention relates to hose nozzles and particularly to sprayer attachments therefor. 5 T
The general object is to provide a Sprayer attachment which may be'readily applied to nozzles and in all ordinary forms of hose be shifted into which the sprayer cone may or out of operativeposition with relation to the nozzle or into a position where it is disposed partly across the mouth of the nozzle, and provides very simple means whereby the yoke supporting the sprayer cone may be held in its adjusted positions without however, preventing the easy shifting of the cone to any other desired position.
A further object is to provide a construction of this character which is very simple in form, has few parts, and may be cheaply made.
Other objects will appear in the course of the following description.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a nozzle and sprayer attachment constructed in accordance with our invention;
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary side elevation showing the means whereby the attachment is connected to the nozzle and showing the nozzle in one of its adjusted positions;

Fig. 1 is a face View of the portion 10.
Referring to these figures it will be seen that this attachment comprises ashort post form and which is formed with two opposed resilient clamping members 11. The central opening of the post is screw-threaded for engagement by a screw 12. Preferably the extremities of the resilient clamping members 11 are bent backward to form hooks 13 and preferably a buckle 14; is connected to 1 of the hooks while a strap 15 is connected to the other hook.

, spraying member actuating member 16 which is mounted so that it will turnupon the rod 12, said actuatingmemberbeing formed with a curved arm 17 which in one/position of the attachment arches over the forward end of the nozzle. A. This armi17 at its extremity is formed to provide a disk; or plate 18 and to this the spraying member 19 is attached as by screws. This member 19 maybe made of wood, metal or any other suitable material and is perfectly 'circular in cross section-with a rounded inner face 20.
'The diameter of this member 19 should be slightly greater than the internal diameter of the nozzle A. p v By turning the actuating member 16 through the medium of the handle 21. which extends in alinement with the arm 17: and in a direction opposite to the-said arm, the 19 may be carried from an front of operative position immediately in the nozzle to an entirely inoperative position,
or to a position where the member 19 is disposed partly across the discharge opening of the nozzle as disclosed in Fig.' 2. In order to make a sprayer attachment which may be shifted and yet held in various adjusted positions we form the inner face of the actuating member 16 with a plurality of radially extending ribs 22 and form the outer face of the post 10 with a plurality of radial grooves designed to engage the ribs. A spring 2.3 mounted upon the screw 12 acts to urge the member 16 against the grooved face of the post 10 and thus holds said member in any adjusted position.
- With this construction when the spraying member 19 is disposed immediately in front of the nozzle the rounded face of the member 19 will cause the water to spread laterally in all directions in a divergent spray. If it be desired to cause the water to spray toward one side or the other the actuating member 16 is turned so as to carry the member 19 away from its axial alinement with the nozzle and the rounded face of the member 19 will be disposed at an inclination to the direction of the water and cause the water to spray laterally. Of course, the member 19 may be shifted entirely away from the'nozzle so that it will not impede the full discharge of the water.
