GAR-REPAIRERS TRUCK.
To all whom. it may concern:
=Be it known that I, GAETANO. J. PAGE,
I a subject ofthe King of Italy, and a resident of San Jose, in the county of Santa Clara and Stateof California, have invented cerwhereby a car repairer may readily move" himself about under a car and in a reclining position and perform work thereupon.
One object of my invention is to provide a device of the character indicated that will enable an operator to quickly and easily position himself as desired under a car and as quickly and easily remove himself therefrom without placing his body in contact with the floor under the car. Another object is to provide a device of the charac ter indicated that is provided with a resiliently supported head-rest whereby certainadvantages are obtained as hereinafter more fully set forth. It is also an object of the present invention to provide a device of the character indicated that is simple in construction, strong and durable, and that can be so constructed as to be compactly folded for storage or transportation.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel and useful provision, formation, construction, combination and relative arrangement of parts, members and features all as hereinafter described, shown in the drawings and finally pointed out in the claims.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a portion of another embodiment of my invention in which a non-foldable, resiliently supported head-rest is provided.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates a frame built up of suitable angle irons and filled in with a plurality of metal slats 2 positioned transversely thereof and secured thereto by rivets 3. Beneath each of the four corners of .by rivets 5.

spaced a distance therefrom by spacing members 7, and secured thereto by bolts 8 passing through bar 6, spacing members 7 and frame '1 and provided with nuts 9. These'bolts 8 are positioned near the center of bar 6, the said bar 6 extending outwardly in both directions beyond the sides of frame 1, and being twisted as at 10 to form fiat horizontal terminals 11 to engage supports 12. Each support 12 consists of a single bar pivoted to the side of frame 1 as at 13 and passing forwardly of spring-bar 6, the two supports 12 converging at their outer ends to engage a head-rest 14.
In use the operator reclines upon his back upon the device with his head resting upon head-rest 14 and with his legs and arms free to manipulate the device and to perform the required work upon the mechanism above him.
In performing this work the muscles of the back, shoulders and neck are brought into play, becoming tense and rigid when unusual force is being applied to some piece of mechanism. If, as frequently happens, the tool being used slips orthe part being worked upon suddenly loosens while the muscles are in the condition stated, their sudden and unexpected relaxation throws the head of the operator sharply against head-rest 14, the jar being absorbed by the members 12 and their spring support 6. This is a material and practical feature of this invention inasmuch as it eliminates a form of physical discomfort and possible injury to which an operator on this class of Work is constantly subjected when no buffer for the head is provided.
