To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN B. STRANGE, a resident of New York city, borough of the Bronx, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pails, of which the follow- `ing is a specification.
One of the objects of my invention is to provide a pail of integral fibrous pulp material which shall be cheap to manufacture,
strong and durable and not liable to be tion is to provide a pulp structure having a plurality of sections and ribs so arranged relative to each other that the pressing and forming of the same will result in a more strongly braced and reinforced structure; and further to provide a cover so arranged as to prevent crushing when the lled pails are stacked one upon the other, and means for securing the cover in position on the ail. -p My `invention further comprises novel details of improvement and combinations of parts that will be more fully hereinafter set forth and then pointed out in the claims.

The pail 1 has sides -or walls 2 anda bottom 3 made integral, comprising fibrous pulp in suitable compressed form, which may be compressed to shape in any well known manner. cracked or broken during use, which is liable to occur where pails of this character are made with sharp or substantially right langled corners at the junction of the sides j with the bottom. This manner of constructing my improved pail may be carried out by sultably shaping the plunger at its outer edge, in rounded or convex form,fso that the material of the pail when the same is pressed or squeezed will provide a filling at the corner between the sides and bottom, thereby lncreasing the dimension of the material from such corner to the pail. ,The bottom of the pail is shown recessed at 6 providing an annular rim 7, whereby the bottom of the pail may be made of the required thinness and yet strength is alorded-at the margins by the rim 7 in conjunction with the filling 4.
The pail is formed of homogeneous pulp outer edge 5 of the material by pressing wet pulp in such a wayA as to form integral sections and ribs that are so arranged relative to eachother by the pressing and forming of the structure that the pail is braced and reinforced throughout and greatly strengthened thereby.
