Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,596, dated July 16, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STERNE RUssELL, of Waterbury, in the county of- New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented an Improvement in Lamps; and the following is declared to be a correct description of the same.
My improvements relate to chimney-fastenings, composed of hooks upon springs that are moved around within a stationary camiange, so that the hooks are made to grasp the chimney by the flanges pressing them inward as the fastening is partially revolved. I also make use of an air-distributer of a conical form supported by arms from the body of the burner, and receiving the conical deflector, that is attached by locking-hooks that pass through slots in the air-distributer.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a vertical section of my improved lamp-burner; and Fig. 2 'is an inverted plan, showing the cam-flange and spring chimney-hooks.
The burnershell a receives the Wick tube b and ratchet-cap o, as usual. I claim as my invention- 1. The cam-shaped ange i, incombination With the spring o and hooks s s and u for holding the chimney, substantially as set forth.
2. The deilector f with its attaching-hooks 5, in combination with the air-distributer d' having the chimney-rest 2, cone 3, and ledge 4, as and for the purposes set forth.
