WALTER ROYAL LOCKHART, OF DELTA, COLORADO.
FIGURE TOY.
Application filed August 8, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER ROYAL LOCK- HART, a citizen of the United States, residing at Delta, in the State of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Figure Toy, of which the following is a specification.
'My invention relates to improvements in figure toys.
The object of my .invention is to provlde a toy in which three figures are employed.
proved toy showing the several figures in.
dotted lines in their forward position.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 22, Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings: A represents a frame of an elongated form, and U- shaped in cross-section; supported by the standards B at each end as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. The rear end of the frame has pivoted therein the two stirrups D and D, swinging downwardly and loosely passing through the legs or feet ,C of the figure C, which, as shown, is preferably in the form of a goat. Connected to the forward stirrup D is a spring Q, which has its opposite end connected to the frame; whereby the tendency of the spring is to move or hold the figure C in the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. Pivoted in the frame in front of the figure C at J is a figure J in the form of a man or human being. The figure J has an extension P below its pivot, to which is connected the chain or cable 0 which extends forwardly over the pulley N mounted in the frame A and extends upwardly? The extreme forward end of the frame A at one side of the figure J is provided with a rigid figure K in the form of a man;

which has an intermediately pivoted arm L pivoted at L. The chain or cable 0 is connected to the arm L on one side of the pivot and a spring M is connected to the arm on the opposite side of its pivot. This normally holds the arm in the position shown in full lines. The arm L carries a hat which is on the head of the figure K and upon the downward movement of the arm the hat is raised.
Connected to the neck of the goat is a cable I which extends forward and is connected to the figure J so that the figure J is returned to a vertical position when the goat C is moved rearwardly to its normal position. The goat is drawn backwardly by the cord or cable R passing over the pulley S carried by the frame A. The figure C has an opening C therethrough, as shown 'in Fig. 8; in which is arranged the trigger E normally held inwardly by the spring T. The trigger E has connected thereto the bar F which is intermediately pivoted to the cross bar G which is secured to the side of the goat or figure C. The lower end of the bar F enters a notch F in the frame A and holds the goat in its rearward position against the tension of the spring Q.
The operation of the device is as follows: Base balls or the like are thrown at the goat and enter the opening C in the side thereof and force the trigger E outwardly on the opposite side from which it enters the opening. The outward movement of the trigger rocks the bar F on the bar G and causes the lower end of the bar F to pass inwardly out of the notch F in the frame A. The spring I draws the goat or figure C forwardly. This strikes the figure J rocking it upon its pivot J and by the cable or cord 0 the arm L of the figure K is drawn downwardly remain in said position and the cable R is then pulled, drawing the goat rearwardly until the bar F catches in the notch F. The figure J is drawn upwardly in a vertical position by the cable I and the return of this figure to its vertical position allows the spring to return the arm L of the figure K to a position with the hat on the figure.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A toy comprising a movable figure, a
hat of said figure. The figures second figure moved by spring tension against the first figure, a catch for holding the second figure in a position against the spring tension, and a third figure operated by the first figure, whereby the release of the second figure operates the other two figures.
2. A toy comprising a movable figure, a second figure moved by spring tension against the movable figure for moving the same, an intermediately pivoted catch for holding the second figure in a position under the spring tension and operated by an object strikin it from a right angle direction, and a third figure connected to the movable figure whereby the release of the second figure operates the other two figures. I
' 3. A toy compris'ng a movable figure, a second figure moved by spring tension against the movable figure for moving the same, a catch for holding the second figure in a position under the spring tension and operated by an object strikin it from a right angle direction, and a third figure having a movable arm operated by the first figure whereby the releasing of the second figure operates the first figure and the arm of the third figure.
4. A toy comprising a pivoted figure, a second figure horizontally movable by a spring and adapted to strike and rock the pivoted figure, an intermediately pivoted catch carried by the horizontally movablefigure for holding it in a position away from the pivoted figure and operated by an object striking it from a right angle direction, and a third figure having a movable arm operated by the pivoted figure whereby the releasing of the horizontally movable figure operates the other figure and the arm I of the third figure.
5. A toy comprising a pivoted figure, a second figure horizontally movable by a spring, adapted to strike and rock the pivoted figure, an intermediately pivoted catch carried by the horizontally movable figure for holding it in a position away from the pivoted figure against the spring tension, its upper end arranged opposite an opening in the figure operated by an object passing through the opening from a right angle direction, and a third figure having a movable arm operated by a cable from the pivoted figure, whereby the releasing of horizontally movable figure operates the other figure and the arm of the third figure.
6. A toy comprising a frame, a pivoted figure, normally held in a vertical position, a horizontally movable spring held figure adapted to move the pivoted figure into a horizontal position, a transversely movable catch carried by the movable figure and engaging the frame, for holding the movable figure in a rearward position against the tension of the spring.
7 A toy comprising a movable figure, a second figure moved by spring tension against the first figure, a catch for holding the second figure 1n a position against the spring tension, and a third figure having a movable member connected to one of the other figures, whereby the release of the second figure operates the first figure and the movable member of the third figure, and a spring for returning the movable member of the stationary figure to normal position.
8. A toy comprising a pivoted figure, a second figure horizontally movable by a spring and adapted to strike and rock the pivoted figure, an intermediately pivoted catch carried by the horizontally movable figure for holding it in a position away from the pivoted figure and operated by an object striking it from a right angle direction, and
a third figure having a movable arm connected to one of the movable figures, whereby the releasing of the horizontally movable figure operates the other figure and the arm of the third figure.
9. A toy comprising a pivoted figure, a second figure horizontally movable by a spring, adapted to strike and rock the pivoted figure, an intermediately pivoted catch carried by the horizontally movable figure for holding it in a position away from the pivoted figure against the spring tension, its upper end arranged opposite an opening in the figure and operated by an object passing through the openin from a right angle direction, and a thir figure having a movable arm operated by a cable from one of the other figures, whereby the releasing of the horizontally movable figure operates, the other figure and the arm of the third figure.
10. In an amusement device, a platform, a pair of arms, one end of each arm being pivotally connected to the platform, a figure pivotally supported on the other ends of said arms, a second figure pivotally supported on the platform in advance of and in alinement with said movable figure, means for throwing the first mentioned figure against the second figure, means for locking the first figure against movement, a target disk carried by said locking means, and a third figure having a movable member connected to one of the first two figures, whereby the operation of the target disk will operate the first two figures and the movable member of the third figure.
