@QQQW dddd @Mod UNITED STATES PATENT GFFICE. l
MAX ADLER, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO JACOBS, STROUSE & CO., OF NEW YORK, N. Y.'
IMPROVEMENT IN coRsETs.
Speeication forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,264, dated July 16, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX ADLER, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Inn-- provement in Corsets; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing' and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exa-ct description of the same, and which said drawing constitutespart of this specification, and represents, in-
.Figure 1, a view of the rear or laced part of a corset with my improvement applied at that point, and in Fig. 2 a section on line .fr fr.
This invention relates to an improvement in the lacing ot' corsets; the object being to give an additional adjustment at the center in order to contract or expand the corset at the center to better accommodate the form than the usual construction. As usually constructed eyelets are inserted at each edge of the back and secured together by a lacing running through the said eyelets; therefore, loosening the lacing at one point, the loosening will be distributed throughout the length of the back, and no special adjustment can be attained.
My invention consists in arranging, at or near the center of the corset, two flies-one upon either part-attached to the body of the corset at a little distance from the edge, and the meeting ends of these iies provided with a 'means of lacing independent of the principal lacing, whereby the corset maybe adjusted considerably tighter at that point than over the whole extent.
A is one part and B the other part of the body, the edges t b provided with eyelets for lacing in the usual manner, the other parts of the corset being of any'desirable construction. At or near the center of the body I arrange, upon each side, a ily, C, each secured at a point a little distance from the edge ot' the body, as denoted in Fig. 2. The end of each of these flies is provided with eyelets d, or equivalent adjusting device, independent` of the principal lacing of the corset, as shown in Fig. l, whereby these flies may be drawn more or less taut independent of the principal lacing, and thus better adapt the corset to the person than can be done by the usual lacing.
I claim as my invention- In combination with the principal lacing of a corset, the flies C C, attached one to each part, and made adjustable independent ofthe principal lacing, substantially as set forth.
MAX ADLER. Witnesses:
