UNITED STATES PATENT QEEIGE.
THOMAS C. RICE, OF WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN EVE-GLASS SUPPORTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,170, dated July 16, 1872.
To allpersoas to whom these presents may come:
Be it known that I, THOMAS C. RICE, of the city and county of Worcester, of the State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Eye-Glass Supporter; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specilication, and represented in the accompanying drawing, of which- Figure l is-a front elevation, and Fig'. 2 a side view of it.
It is intended to be hooked to the collar or other suitable part of the Vest or dress of ai person, and to be used for supporting an eyeglass or other article. capable of being hitched upon the spring-hook making part of the supporter. It consists of an elastic or inelastic hook, A, formed essentially as described, and two sharp or pointed hooks, B C, or a wire bent so as to form such, all being connected together and arranged as shown. The two sharpened hooks have their points extended toward cach other.
In securing the article to a vest-collar one of the hooks B C is rst to be hitched into the collar, after which the cloth of the collar is to be folded or gathered up between the said hooks, so as to allow the second of them to be hitched into it in the opposite direction to that of the introduction of the first one. The hook A, being thus secured to the vest or its collar, m'ay be employed to give support to an eyeglass or pair of spectacles, or any other thing capable of being hooked upon it.
I claim the new article of manufacture described, consisting ofuse as stated.
THOMAS C. RICE.
