An object of my invention is to produce a device which will permit the use of a series of sheets of different grades and colore of paper, furnished from rolls, while simultaneously overcoming the friction of operation created by having to draw a number of sheets of paper ,from a number of rolls of paper, wher by the machine may be operated freely.
This and other objects are attained in the inanifolding device described in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which;

My improved inanifolding device consists of a frame 5 adapted to be mounted upon the frame 6 of a typewriter stand '2' and having cross bars 8 which support the ends of rollers 9 upon which the paper rolls 10 are wound, and means 11 for unrolling the rolls of paper sutliciently before feeding the sheets through the typewriter, to produce a slack therein which will permit of easy and rapid feeding operation.

In order that the sheets of paper may be prevented from falling when they are being threaded through the machine-end the carbon sheets are being placed in position. l have provided a detachable bar 28 which is held in position by means of spring clips 29 and 30 at each end thereof. The sheets may be thrown back over bar 28 to support them while'radj'usting the carbon sheets, or the bar may be removed when placing newroll sheets in position. Another feature is the means by which the rolls may be removably mounted in the cross bars 8. Each cross bar has a notch 31 therein, into which one end of each of the axles tits. Located outside of each notch is a cup 32 which is held in registration with the axle by a spring Thus the cups nor mally retain the axle ends in the notches. and prevent displacement thereof from the notches except when it is desired to place fresh rolls therein.
In the operation of my improved device, the carbon carriage 16 is moved to the rear thus bringing the roller end of lever 12- to the dottedline position disclosed in Fig. 1. The sheets from the rolls 10 are then passed over the rollers 25. around the roller 23 and over bar 2'3. Bar 528 may be detached during this operation, if desired. fhe sheets are then passed over the platen carriage 26, the carbon sheets being interleaved between the rollsheets, andarethenpassed over-theplaten of the typewriter. .After the sheets have been t ewritten, the interleaved carbringing the sheets to bon sheets are removed by pushing back the carriage 16. This permits tions of the sheets to be removed and simultaneously brings the leverl2 from the forwardly withdrawn full line slack producing position to the downwardly projected sheet unrolling position. Immediately upon again typewriting position upon the platen and as they are filled in, slack is produced, as shown in full lines in Fig. 1, by reason of the forward movement of carbon carriage 16 which lifts and Withdraws the lever 12 toward the front simultaneously. Thus the paper feeding mechanism is relieved of the drag which would be occasioned by having to unroll the several rolls each time the sheets are moved up for line spacing, were a slack producing mechanism such as I have disclosed, not provided.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim is;
A typewriter manifolding device ,comprising in combination with a typewriter the filled in pora frame adapted to mount a series of rolls of paper thereon rotatively, a carbon sheet carriage reciprocally mounted on the typewriter frame at the rear thereof, a lever pivotally connected with the carriage at one end, and a guide adapted to direct the opposite end in engagement with the paper extending from the rollswhen the carbon sheet carriage is operated, whereby the sheets will be unrolled from the rolls. and
