To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, N IOHOLAS J. Korma, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, and Stateof Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hand Stamping Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hand stamping devices and more particularly to that type of devices having asupply of ink, a stamp, and a supporting member whereby the stamp may be conveniently inked and then make its impression upon the paper carried by the supporting member.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a simple and practical mechanism of. the above general character having relatively few. parts which may be conveniently and inexpensively manufactured and assembled. A further object is to provide a device of the above general character particularly adapted for dating checks, and the like, which will permit the stamping members and the supporting member to be conveniently adjusted to suit requirements. A further object is'to provide a device of the above general character which may be compactly folded and transported.
Other objects will be in part obvious from the annexed drawings and in part indicated in connection therewith by the following analysis of this invention.
invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combination of parts and in the unique relations of the members and in the relative proportioning and disposition thereof, all as more completely outlined herein.
To enable others skilled in the art so fully to comprehend the underlying features thereof that they may embody the same by the numerous modifications in structure and relation contemplated by this invention, drawings depicting a preferred form have been annexed as a part of this disclosure, and in such drawings, like characters of reference denote corresponding parts throughout all the views, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device in operative position Fi 2 is a partial sectional end view of the d avice in folded position; Y

For conv nience, it will be assumed that the present device is particularly adapted for dating sheets of checks, although it is of course to be understood that it is applicable to various other uses, as well.
Referring now to the drawing in detail and more particularly to Fig. 1, 5 represents connections at 12 with the member 10, and
at the point'13 with the member 5. Adjacent the pivot points 13 and at opposite ends of one of the side edges of the support 5 are two upright members 14. end of these uprights pivotally supportat l5 laterally extending arms 16. Between the inner ends of these arms is a reinforcing brace 17 while the other ends of these arms are connected by a series of members as shown more clearly in Fig. 3. A main member 18 and a secondary member 20 are spaced apart by a series of rubber blocks 21. At regular intervals are a series of dating stamps 22 secured to the members 18 and 20 by means of bolts 23 provided with tightening or adjusting nuts 24 and an intervening rubber cushion 25, thereb to take up the shock due to operation an to insure a uniform pressure and impression'upon the receiving sheet. All 0 t suitably trunnioned at 26, as shown in Fig. 1, whereby the device may turn bodily with respect to the arms 16 which in turn rotate about the pivots 15 on the uprights 14. -A suitable manipulating handle 27 is provided as may be necessary for convenience of operation.
Beneath the dating stamps 22 are preferably positioned a plurality of. ink pads 28 although of course one single elongated pad may be used, if desired. it is sometimes preferred, however to use a shorter sheet, than that for which the device is de- The upper hes'e members are signed to accommodate, in which case one of the ink pads may be closed without afiecting the operation of the other devices.
In Fig. 2 the device is shown in its compact folded position and concealed within a suitable cover 30 which, of course, is provided with a carrying handle 31 and looking latches 32 adapted to coact with the baseboard 5 whereby the entire device may be conveniently transported in a dust-proof manner. A buffer 33 is provided on the inner surface of the casing 30. adapted to coact with the transverse bar 18,- thus to prevent rattling and dislocation of the device during transportation.
The device may be conveniently operated as follows:
Assuming it to be in a position shown in Fig. 2, the cover 30 is removed after releasing the latches 32. The auxiliary support 10 is moved to the extreme left, as permitted by the slotted links 11, after which it' is swung upwardly over the stamping member and down to the position shown in Fig. 1. The various stamping devices are set according to date, for example, or the matter intended to be printed.
The covers of the several ink pads are thrown back and the stamping devices moved into engagement therewith as indicated. The sheet to receive the impressions is placed upon the support 5 and the straight edges moved or adjusted, as may be necessary to properly bring the blanks into position to receive the impressions when the stamping devices are swung over to printing position.
It will thu be seen that the invention contemplates a simple and practical hand stamping device which will be inexpensive to manufacture and assemble, easy and reli able to manipulate and one which may conand adjusted to suit various conditions. In-short, the invention is believedv to accomplish among others all of the objects and advantages herein set forth.
I realize that considerable variation is possible in the details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of my invention, and I therefore do not intend to limit myself to the s ecific form shown and described.

2. In a device of the character described, in combination, a main support, an auxiliary support having a sliding connection therewith whereby it. may be conveniently be properly positioned with respect to the impression stamping devices. I

In a device of the character described, in combination, a main support, an auxiliary support having a flexible connection therewith whereby it may be conveniently moved from a position above said first support to a position at one side thereof, inking pads carried by said auxiliary supports, uprights mounted on the main support, and a plurality of adjustable stamping devices trunnioned in said uprights whereby they may be swung from inking position to impressionposition, each of said stamps being provided'with a cushioning device between the stamp and its supporting member wheretained.
4. In a device of the character described,
in combination, a main support, an auxiliary support having a flex1ble connection 1tmay be conveniently moved from a position above said first support to a position atone side thereof, inking pads carried by said auxiliary supports, uprights mounted-on the main support, a plurality of adjustable stamping devicestrunnioned in said uprights whereby they may be swung from inking position to impression osition, each of said stamps being provided with a cushioning device between the stamp and its supporting member whereby uniformity of impressions may be obtained,
' said main support being provided with adjustable straight edges at one end and side adapted to coact with the impression sheet whereby it may be moved into proper position with respect to the printing devices.
