Be it known that I, CLARENCE O. HAWX- iimisr, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of St. Louisv and State of Missouri, have invented certain new5 and vindicate the absence of a proprietor and when he or she will return, or similar information, and provide means to enable callers to leave cards or messages.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of comparatively few parts, inexpensive in manufacture, attractive and neat in appearance, easily and quickly adjusted, durable, and capable of being attached to a door or window or station upon a desk, or other suitable place.

IVitli the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts as will be fully described hereinafter, and finally pointed out in the claim hereto appended:

In carrying out the aim of my present invention I employ a plate 1 consisting preferably of a rectangular wooden body of any suitable dimensions.

The board 1 is provided adjacent its upper edge with a longitudinal slotted opening 2, and near its lower edge with a longitudinal slotted opening 3. j

A revoluble plate 4 is adapted to be positioned in the slotted opening 2 and supported by means of the pintles 5 which are frictionally journaled in the board l. One

of the pintles is provided with a knob 6 for turning the plate L1. v,

A second revoluble plate 7 is adapted to be positioned in the slotted opening 3 and supported by means of the pintles 8, which are frictionally positioned in the board 1. One of these pintles 8 is also provided with a knob 9 for turning the plate 7.

The above plates 4 and 7 may be of any other design than flat, as shown, and may be triangular in cross-section to provide a I plurality of faces adapted to bear informa'- tion such, for instance, as printed data. I

Centrally arranged upon the board 1 intermediate the upper and lower slotted openings 2 and 3 is a dial plate 10. This plate 10 is provided in concentric formation with figures 1 to 12 to indicate the hours of the day and designated 11, and preferably with dashes 12 and 13 to indicate the quarter and half hours, respectively. The hour figures are arranged in the outer circle.

The figures 1 to 31 in the center circle designated 14 indicate the dates of the month.

The names of the days of the week in the inner circle designated 15, are preferably abbreviated.

Fixed to the center of the dial plate 10 is a supporting pin 16. Movably mounted upon the pin 14- are three clock hands 17, 18 and 19 to indicate the hour, date and day, respectively.

A resilient card-holder is arranged at each end of the board 1 adjacent the sides of the dial plate 10 comprising a flange 20, the body 21, and the resilient wall 22 having the upper edge terminating in a rolled or cylindrical body forming a pencil-holder 23. The ange 20 of each of these holders is secured to the face of the board 1 by means of suitable fastening devices such, for instance, as screws.

It will be observed that when the proprietor desires to leave the oiice the device is set to indicate the proprietors return. For an example, as illustrated, the revolving plates and hands indicate that the proprietor will return at two-fifteen, on the 15th day of the month, which isindicated as Saturday.

The opposite faces of the revoluble plates 2 and 3 may be provided with theword In and the hours of the day, respectively, or any other data or information desired.

The operation or adjustment of the indicator is simple and quick. All the operator needs to do is to turn the knobs 6 and 9 to revolve the plates 2 and 3, and to move the several hands by means of the index finger'.

The device may be hung or attached to the door or wall in any suitable manner, or left to stand upon a desk or table, if desired.
