Description

S. FOOTE.
Mica-Windows for Stoves.
Amt FHHYU-UTHOGRAPHIC c0. MK/ 0850/0/53 PR17F5 s) PATENT OFFICE.
STEPHEN FOOTE, OF JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN MICA WiNDOWS FOR STOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 129,020, dated July 16, 1872.
Specification describing a new and useful Improvement in Adjusting Mica Windows in Stoves, invented by STEPHEN FooTE, of J ersey City, in the county of Hudson and State spondin g parts.
A is the stoveplate, in which the window is placed. B is the window-frame, which may be made of any style or form. 0 represents the mica or other transparent material. The mica is secured by wires, D, cast in the frame and bent down onto the mica, as seen in the drawing. These wires form stops, which will prevent the mica in the frame from fitting closely to the stove-plate, thereby leaving an opening, 6, equal to the diameter of the wires. This will keep the mica from forminga close joint with the stove. By allowing a thin current of air to pass between the mica and the stove the mica is preserved bright and undimmed for any length of time, while micawindows attached in the ordinarymanner soon become dimmed by the smoke and gases from the coal. By my improvement, the fasteningwires become also the spacers, and the mica remains bright and untarnished.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The wires D, cast in window-frames B, and serving both as fasteners to the mica-plate (J and spacers to regulate the admission of air,
as described.
