Application filer January 23,1913
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States. residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement; in Yokes for Railway Draft-Rigging. of whieh the following ie'ra full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in yoltes for railway draft riggings.
The object of the invention to provide a yoke for railway draft riggiugs whirh is so designed as to permit employment of the numerous small size. draw bars now in ser\' ire with yokes of larger and more modern size.
In the drawing forming a part oi this speriiieation. Figure l is a part longitudinal, ertiral. sectional view. part Nllll. elevation of a (ll-aw liar and yolte showing my improvements in connection therewith. Fig. 2 is a transverse. vertical. seetional YllW taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a horizontal. sectional \lOW taken on the line 23-4? of Fig. l. ;\ll(l Fig. l is a iletail perspertire of one of the, filler blocks (l]!1)l() \'ii with my improvements.

The height of the (llttW liar hntt lllllHll'tlilll may he ('fill. l(l(l't l as til inrhes anti the sparing between the arms of the yoke may he run- Hl(lll'(l as Ell int-hes. 'lhe yoke. designated generally by the rrferenee romprises upper ainl lOWl arms H anti ill. rear ronnerting portion l6 and a hollow rertan ular lie-ml at the forward einl. Saiil hollow ll(;lll is tormezl hy the torwaril einls oi the yoke arms ainl liy yertieal siile walls IT lT. hi the interior. the hollow heml is lllllYllllll al the front eml thereo't with upper aiul lower transversely extending gills lH--1R spaeril apart snliieientl to permit the insertion ot' the draw L ar butt by longitudinal movement. Simiiarly, interior of Specification of Letters Patent.

I claim: i
. l. In a device of the character described, the combination 1th a yoke having a hollow to be inserted between the upper and lower walls of the head and the upper and lower surfaces of the draw bar butt, said filler blocks having transverse shoulders cooperahle with said gihs and the shon iders of the butt, the forward portions of said blocks being extended laterally and adapted to engage behind said vertical side shoulders of the yoke head.
2. The combination with a draw bar hav-' ing a shouldered butt, of a yoke having a hollow head at the forward end. thereof within which the butt is adapted to be inserted longitudinally, said head being provided with transversely extending upper and lower gibs and vertically extending side shoulders adjacent said gibs, and filler blocks interposed between the butt and adjacent walls of the yoke head, each of said filler blocks having transverse shoulders cooperable with the corresponding yoke gib and butt shoulder, said blocks at their edges engaging said vertical shoulders and having also forwardly extended flanges in line with the shoulders of the butt.
Inwvitness'ithat I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 29th day of ,Dec;\1917.
