not become accidentallydisplaced and espec cially to guard against slippage of the beds during the travel of the vehicle, so as to avoid the great wear which would be caused by such slippage.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 isa side elevation vof a vehicle embodying my invention, the beds being shown in position for use. Fig-2 is a top plan view with the parts in the same position. Fig. 3 is a r plan view showing the beds packed for transportation. Fig. .4 is an enlarged transverse sectional view taken in the plane of line 4 4 of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a similar view .on line 5 5 of Fig. 3. In the present embodiment of my invention, which constitutes an illustrative example, the vehicle comprises a box-like body 9 which is mounted upon a single pair of supporting wheels 1.0 positioned substantially centrally beneath the body. 11 designates the tongue. Means at opposite ends of the body are provided forv supporting such ends directly from the ground-when the vehicle is to be used for camping. These means may be the same for both ends and preferably comprise a leg 12 for each corner of the body, the lower end of the leg preferably having an enlarged shoe 13 pivoted thereto to bear upon the ground. In order to level the body of the vehicle in spite of unevenness in the ground, each leg is adjustably connected to the body, the preferred manner of effecting this result being to provide a slot 14 in the upper end of the leg through which a bolt 15 extends, the bolt being seated in a suitable corner piece on the body and being provided on its outer end with a nut 16,

In thepreferred form, the body is provices on the beds and on thebody,

preferably are in the form'of pins and' sockets adapted to interengage, but .being vided at the upper edges of its opposite side walls with .outwardly extending ledges 17 suitably braced from the side walls. These ledges constitute supports fortwo bedsV 18. In the exemplary form shown, 'each of these beds comprises a rectangular frame which may be filled with any suitable spring ma-l terial (not shown) and each bed is provided along one.side with a suitable-number of legs 19, in this instance two, eachleg being hinged to the bed so as to be-capable of swinging through an arc of approximately 270 degrees to stand in vertical position for supporting the bed, or to lie on top of and parallel to the bed when packed for transportation.

When the beds are set up for use, one side is supported by the legs 19 which are arranged to bear upon'the ground, and the opposite side rests upon one of the ledges 17. If desired, the legs may be made adjustable or extensible, in the same manner as the legs 12, to takecare of unevenness in the ground. For transportation the beds are packed directly above the body one upon the other.

The means for securing the beds in place for I preventing displacement or slippage of the beds with relation to each other or to the body comprises separable interlocking dewhich devices readily detachable.

In the preferred construction illustrated in the drawings, the pins are provided on the beds and the sockets on the body, although this arrangement might be reversed. Preferably ea'ch bed isprovided along the side opposite to the side to which the legs 19 are sie` affixed, with downwardly projecting pins 20 of suitable number, two being herein shown. rThe ledges 17 are provided with complementary sockets vadapted to receive these pins on the bed frame. 1n the present instance each ledge-is provided with two sets of

sockets

21 and 22 positioned respectively adjacent to the inner and outer edges of the ledge. When the beds vare packed for transportation, the pins 20 of the lowermost bed engage in the innerrow of sockets 21 onI one ledge, and when the beds are set up for use the pins of this lowermost bed-are engaged with the outer row of sockets 22 on the opposite ledge. The exposed space on each of the ledges inward from the bed when set up for use may thus be used as a seat or bench. While this double provision of sockets for the ledges is advantageous and preferable, it is not essential that tivo sets be provided, but a single set for each ledge might be employed.

When the beds are packed one above the other, the pins 2O on the upper bed engage in sockets 23 on the lovver bed, the sockets being in the present instance formed in the legs 19 adjacent to their pivot points. The sockets, however, might be otherwise positioned on the bed.

lt is advantageous, although not strictly essential, to so construct and arrange the pins and sockets t-hat in packing the beds for transportation either may be placed on the bottom or top, as desired. To this end, the pins and sockets are all made of the same size and the legs 19 of both beds are provided with sockets 23.

7When the beds are packed they may be bound tightly to the body by any suitable means and the pins and sockets will eectively pievent movement of the beds in a horizontal or edgewise direction either with relation to each other or with reference to the body of the vehicle.

llt will be understood that the vehicle is intended to be equipped with a tent which when set up will inclose the vehicle and the extended beds. inasmuch as the tent structure forms no part of the present invention, l have deemed it unnecessary to illustrate it.

`While l have herein shown and described in considerable detail the preferred embodiment of my invention, l recognize that various modifications and equivalent structures ivill occur to persons skilled in this art, l therefore do not limit myself to the details of the present disclosure. The scope of the invention Will be pointed out in the appended claims.

l claim as my invention:

l. A camping vehicle comprising, in combination, a body mounted on a single pair of Wheels positioned beneath the mid-portion of the body, means for supporting the opposite ends of the body from the ground, said body having horizontal ledges at opposite sides, each ot which is provided with tivo sets of sockets, one setfbeing near the inner edge ofthe ledge and the other set insane@ near the outer edge, tivo bed frames, each having a. set of downwardly projecting pins on one side adapted to engage in said sockets vand each bed frame having supporting legs hinged to the opposite side thereof and adapted to bear upon the ground, said legs having sockets therein adapted to receive the pins on the superposed bed frame whereby the bed frames may be packed on the body With either frame on top of the other, the pins of the top frame engaging in the sockets of the legs of the lower frame and the pins of the lower frame engaging in the innermost sockets of one of said ledges, the bed frames when set up for use having their pins engaging in the outermost sockets of said ledges, said ledges supporting one sidev edge of each bed and said legs then occupying an upright position beneathV the outer edges of the beds to support the latter from the ground.

A camping vehicle comprising a body mounted on a pair of Wheels positioned beneath its mid-portion, means for supporting opposite ends of the body from the ground, tivo beds adapted to be stacked one above the other on the body for transportation, each of said beds comprising a frame and supporting legs hinged to one edge thereof so that the beds are also adapted to be mounted in position for use with one side of each frame supported by the body and the opposite side supported by said legs, the body having a plurality of sockets and the bed frames having pins to engage in said socket-s to secure the beds in place and each bed having sockets to receive the pins on the superposed bed for securing the latter.

3. A camping vehicle having, in combination, a body mounted on a single pair of Wheels, tivo beds adapted to be packed on said body for transportation, and further adapted to be supported in position for use with the inner edges of the beds resting upon the body, means for securing the inner edges of the beds to the body, said means being arranged to hold the beds against horizontal displacement but permitting them to be freely lifted bodily out of engagement with the body, legs adapted to bear upon the ground and support the outer edges of the beds, and legs adapted to bear upon\ the ground and support the body and the inner edges of thel beds from tilting movement about the axis of said Wheels.

A. camping vehicle comprising, in coinbination, a body,two beds adapted to be stacked one on the other on the body for transportation, each bed having legis hinged at one side of the bed whereby the parts are adapted to be yplaced in position for use with one side of the bed resting on the body and the opposite side supported by said legs, the beds and the body having sockets and pins adapted to interengage whereby either lbination, a

A camping vehicle comprising, in combody mounted upon wheels for transportation, two beds each having ylegs adapted to support the beds inoperative position and also adapted -to be moved into inoperative position upon the beds to permit the beds to be packed upon the body with the uppermost bed resting `upon the legs of the lowermost bed and the lowermost bed resting upon thevehicle body, and disengageable devices on the contacting parts for securing the beds against displacement.

7. A camping vehicle comprising, in combination, a body mounted upon wheels for transportation, adapted to support the beds in operative position and also adapted to be swung into inoperative position on top of the beds to permit the beds to bepacked one upon the other in inoperative positionon the body, and disengageable devices on the contacting parts for placement.

8. A camping vehicle having, in combination, poi-tation, a. bed having hinged legs adapted to cooperate with the body to support the bed in operative position and also adapted to be swung into inoperative position upon the 'bed to permit the bed to be packed upon the body, and devices on the contact-ing parts arranged to hold the bed against horizontal displacement in any direction, but permitting it to be freely withdrawn bodil upwardlyout of engagement with the bo y. f

9. A camping vehicle comprising, in combination, a body, two beds adapted to be packed thereon one above the other, each bed comprising supporting legs, disengageable interlocking ybody and the lower bed to prevent slippage ot' the latter, and disengageable interlocking pins and sockets on the upper bed and the legs of the lower bed to prevent slippage of the upper bed.

'10. A camping vehicle comprising, in combination, a box-like body having side two beds each having legs` securing the beds against disa body mounted upon wheels for trans` `pins and sockets on the` walls, a bed having legs adapted to support the bed in operative position and also adapted to be moved into inoperative position upon the bed to permit the bed tof-be packed upon the body for transportation,

A camping. vehicle. comprising, in combination, a box-like body having side walls, two beds having legs adapted to cooperate with'the body to support the beds in operative position and also adapted to walls for supporting the inner edges of the beds when 1n operative position and for supporting the opposite edges of the lowermostbed when in inoperative position, and disengageable devices on the beds and-body for securing the beds against displacement.

13. A camping vehicle comprising in combination, a body, a bed having supporting legs hinged to one side thereof, the bed being adapted to be positioned directly4 above the body when traveling and beingy adapted to be moved edgewise horizontally without inversion into position for use, in which position said supporting legs will bear upon the ground'and the other side of the bed will be supported by the body, separable interengaging devices comprising complementary pins and sockets on the bed and the body, said devices on the bed being located at the side opposite to said supporting legs, and the complementary devices on the body being located at opposite sides thereof to cooperate with the devices on the bed when the latter is in position either for transportation or for use. 4 s f 14. A camping vehicle comprising, in coinbination, a body, a bed having rigid downwardly projecting pins along one side and having supporting legs alongVV the opposite side, said body being adapted to support the irst mentioned side of the bed when in use and being provided with complementary sockets to receive said pins.
