ADJUSTABLE LAMP-SOCKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, Osoan M. SHECK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Lamp-Sockets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the supporting means or socket for electric lamps. In certain types of electric lamps wherein a filament is employed the best illuminating results for certain purposes are obtained by having the filament occupy a particular position relative to the object to be illuminated. This is particularly desirable where the cer tain type of lamp is used in connection with motion picture apparatus, or for stage lighting. y
In the construction of the lamps there exists irregularity in the position of the filament relative to the threaded base of the lamp. lVhile in some lamps when the base is in contact or operative position in the ordinary socket the filament is in the desired relative position, others differ so that -the proper adjustment cannot be made in the threaded socket.
The object of the present invention is the provision of adjustable means whereby the lamp maybe given a partial turn, more or less, in the socket to bring the filan'ient'to the desired position and the operative contact retained.
With this object in view the invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of the elements hereinafter described and pointed out definitely in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of the specification and in which similar characters of reference designate similar parts.
In the said drawing Figure 1 is a central vertical section of the improved socket and adjusting means, showing a lamp in contact position.

In the illustrations the improvement is shown as applied to alamp socket attached to a certain type of support, and while it is particularly adaptable to this embodiment it will be understood that the invention is not confined to this type. of contact block or socket support,as the following description will disclose.

ordinary screw socket adaptable to accommodate the threaded base 3 of the lamp 4.
The socket 2 is attached to the insulated block 1 by suitable means suchas screws- 5.,.and one electric contact member 6 is connected with said socket as shown at 2". The electric circuit is closed by the lamp member 3 contacting the metallic disk 7 which is connected with the electric contact member 8 by the member 7. The principles ofv construction thus far described are substantially old in the art, therefore the patentable novelty lies in the construction of the other elements and their cooperativ e combination with the said parts above set forth.

The operation of the device is evident from the foregoing description of the construct-ion and arrangement of the several elements. The raising and lowering of the plug member 9 through its threaded connection with the block 1, co-acting with the spring 11 provides a resilient ad ustment of the contact disk 7, so that the lamp 4' may be adjusted to the desired position in the socket 2 and the contact of members 3 and 7 maintained.
