To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SIDNEY D. BUM- GARDNER, a citizen of the United States, residin at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and tate of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Identification-Clips for Photographic Films, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in photographic films whereby the film can be easily identified after it has been exposed and developed.

It has become customary to have films developed by commercial photographers and photographic supply dealers and much trouble and annoyance has been encountered in properly and accuratel identifying films after they have been developed, the exist ing methods for that purpose being crude and imperfect. An object of this i vention is to overcome this objection by simple and inexpensive means.

To this end my invention comprises the features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawing the figure is a plan of a detail of a photographic film and its wrapper, constructed in accordance with this invention.

In the drawing A indicates a detail of a photographic film, B the usual opaque wrapper which is employed to protect the film from light and from sticking when wrapped on a magazine spool and to assist in winding it upon the empty spool in the camera.

The wrapper has its outer end C tapered to fit into the slot and for attachment to the winding spool in the camera so that as the winding roll is revolved, the film is wound upon the roller. The outer extremity of the wrapper when the film has been exposed and wrapped upon the windin spool is provided with an adhesive stic er D by which the wrapper can be fastened to hold the wrapper and film closely wound upon the winding spool after said spool has been removed from the camera. This sticker has a tab E integral therewith which can easily be separated from the sticker along the perforated or other weakened line F. The tab bears upon its surface an identification mark G corresponding with an identification mark H on the film. so that at any time after the film has been developed it can be easily identified without mistake. The identification mark H on the film is preferably although not necessarily placed on a portion of the film, which is usually waste or it can be duplicated on various parts of the film for identifying individual pictures. The identification mark G which is adapted to be removed need not necessarily be inscribed on the sticker, it being obvious that it can be placed upon a portion of the wrapper which for instance is removable upon the weakening line I within the spirit of my invention.

In use after the film has been wound upon the winding roller and removed from the camera, the wrapper is secured closed by the adhesive sticker D. When the roll is left with the developer the tab E is removed and retained by the owner as a memorandum until the developed film is called for. The mark G on the tab then serves to properly identify the film.

The invention can also be used in connection with the envelop which usually holds the developed films, said envelop bearing an identification mark corresponding with that on the tab E.

In accordance with the patent statutes, I have described the principles of operation of my invention, together with the apparatus which I now consider to represent the best embodiment thereof, but I desire to have it understood that the construction shown is only illustrative, and that the invention can be carried out by other means and applied to uses other than those above set forth within the scope of the following claim.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

A photographic film having identification data on each portion which is adapted for a separate exposure, a wrapper having ident fication data, and a sticker also having identification data, all of said identification data corresponding so that either the holder of that portion of said sticker bearing said data or the holder of said wrapper may identify the separate portions of the film after the film has been cut into the separate lengths corresponding with each exposure.
